Abstract: A pipe hanger method and apparatus wherein a bolt is threaded upwardly through a first opening within a lower arm portion of a saddle, then, in one form, through an opening in a liner, then through a larger opening in the upper arm portion of the saddle. The opening is non-cylindrical in shape. A nut is then installed on the bolt. The nut has a tapered end portion which interoperates with the shape of the opening in the upper arm of the saddle. The nut is hand-tightened and then is aligned with the opening so that the small end portion would drop into the opening. A wrench is then used on the head of the bolt to rotate the bolt for the purpose of drawing the nut and bolt together and applying a clamping force on a pipe positioned within the saddle. The liner extends along the inside of the bolt and then extends about the pipe, between it and the bight of the saddle, and then in one form extends along the inside of the upper arm portion.

Abstract: A hot pressing process, particularly for providing metal unions couplings for pneumatic, hydraulic and fluid-operated circuits, and a resulting metal union. The hot pressing process comprising: a step of preheating aluminum alloy bars, a step of pressing the part to be obtained, a thermal hardening treatment, and a thermal treatment for artificial aging. The standard cycle further provides for a step of solubilization of the pressed part, performed between the step of pressing the part to be obtained and the thermal hardening treatment. The alloy preferably comprising (weight percent): Si 0.6-1.4%, Fe 0.7%, Cu 0.2-0.5%, Mn 0.2-1%, Mg 0.6-1.2%, Cr 0.3%, Zn 0.3%, Ti 0.2%, Pb 0.4%, Bi 0.5-1.5%, balance aluminum. The process can include a solutionising step after the pressing step.

Abstract: A secure connection between the bottom nozzle of a nuclear fuel assembly and the control rod guide thimbles having two or four crimped pockets in the side wall of a bottom nozzle leg counterbore which are formed by drilling two or four blind holes through the top surface of the bottom nozzle. After attaching the bottom nozzle to the fuel assembly with a crimp bolt a pneumatic tool is then inserted into a flanged cup feature on the crimp bolt head and the flanged portion of the cup feature of the crimp bolt is deformed into the crimp pockets. The crimp pockets are contained within the leg counterbore and prevent the screw from rotating or falling out of the assembly in the event of preload loss or screw fracture.

Abstract: A fastener, such as a housing, for mounting to a structure, such as a panel, that has an aperture formed therethrough. The fastener includes a shank member and an annular nut member that is configured to align coaxially with the shank member. The shank member is inserted through aperture in the structure and the nut member is placed on the shank member. Teeth on the radially outwardly facing surface of the shank member engage a pawl, such as one or more teeth, on the radially inwardly facing surface of the nut member to lock the nut member to the shank member. Removal of the nut member is effected by rotating the nut member to disengage the pawl from the teeth, thereby permitting longitudinal displacement of the nut member off of the shank member.
