Member Includes Screw Receivable In An Axially Extending, Internally Threaded Bore Patents (Class 411/214)
  • Patent number: 11292702
Abstract: A nut to be used as part of a fastener to be used in multiple ways in various industries or methods has a drive mechanism and stud extending from the drive mechanism with a threaded bore. In addition the nut can be specifically used as a method and as part of special fastener that can be used to join cut, hard-wood members, other naturally occurring manufactured mat members or synthetically man made members, referred to as “timber(s)” or “laminated”, in forming a mat used for heavy construction equipment to run on over ground which is not stable. These mats are commonly referred to as “Crane Mats” or “Laminated Mats” in the construction, mining, pipeline, and oil and gas industries among others.

Abstract: A jackscrew nut and/or bolt head assembly includes a bottom washer that is interlocked via circumferentially arrayed castle extensions and recesses. Spherical faces at the washer top are thereby held in alignment with corresponding spherical jackscrew bottoms, which assures evenly distributed contact pressures during out of angle elastic jackscrew displacement during jackscrew loading. The bottom washer interlock may provide further for a transfer of a primary pre tightening torque exerted onto the main body of the nut and/or bolt head via a tool that concurrently accesses all jackscrew heads extending above the main body. The assembly may be initially tightened via the primary torque whereby secondary jackscrew actuation and displacement is greatly reduced. The jackscrews are thinned in reverse for maximum contact area at their spherical bottoms.

Abstract: A jackscrew nut and/or bolt head assembly includes a circumferentially and radially interlocked bottom washer. Spherical faces at the washer top are thereby held in alignment with corresponding spherical jackscrew bottoms, which assures evenly distributed contact pressures during out of angle elastic jackscrew displacement during jackscrew loading. The bottom washer interlock may provide further for a transfer of a primary torque exerted onto the main body of the nut and/or bolt head via an outside spline such as well known triple square, twelve spline or the like, which may be incorporated also into the bottom washer for a concurrent application of an external torque. The assembly may be initially tightened via the primary torque whereby secondary jackscrew actuation and displacement is greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 8172496
Abstract: A locknut system having a projecting screw threaded member with a first external thread. A nut is mountable on the projecting screw threaded member by means of a corresponding thread. A second different screw thread is formed on the projecting screw threaded member. The second screw thread is of a different hand or a different pitch from the first screw thread. A locking member has a screw thread for engagement with the second screw thread of the projecting screw threaded member and has an engaging surface which can be brought into abutting contact with a corresponding engaging surface on the nut by mating the thread of the locking member with the second thread of the projecting screw threaded member. A coupling member operates to couple the locking member and the nut to substantially prevent relative rotation there between.

  • Patent number: 6290442
Abstract: A highly adjustable free spinning positively locking fastener assembly for threaded joints such as automotive or truck wheel assemblies includes a nut having a flange with a retainer washer captured on the nut flange via a locking bolt. The washer includes a tab received in a slot of a wheel spindle to permit the washer to move axially and prevent the washer from rotating. Bolt holes are located at unequally spaced opposed locations in the flange of the nut. A plurality of locking bolts locking the nut to the washer to prevent relative rotation so that neither the nut nor the washer can rotate relative to the spindle. The locking bolts are torsionally inserted into the locking bolt holes located in the nut. At least one locking bolt extends through at least one of the corresponding locking teeth of the washer. When the locking bolts are inserted into the locking bolt holes, the locking bolts engage the teeth of the washer to prevent the nut from rotating.

  • Patent number: 4464699
Abstract: Apparatus for an adjustable low-loss capacitor, which can withstand the application of high shock forces without a corresponding change in a preselected value of capacitance, is described. This capacitor has two sets of hollow cylindrical electrodes which are coaxially interleaved, with, more particularly, one set attached to a rotor unit and the other to a stator unit, all contained within a housing. The capacitance is varied by longitudinal, i.e., axial, movement of the rotor unit with respect to the stator unit. The rotor unit is threadedly inserted into a bushing. In addition, the rotor unit includes a frictional locking mechanism which comprises a threaded member which is inserted into a hole cut into the rotor unit and oriented substantially parallel to the center axis of the rotor. As this threaded member is turned, one portion of the rotor unit moves, with respect to another portion, in a longitudinal direction substantially parallel to a center axis of the rotor unit.

  • Patent number: 4368937
Abstract: The mechanism allows the bin to be manually moved from a stowed position to a loading position, and requires support arms which are mounted with self-aligning bearings for proper operation. The bearing has three parts: an interior bin mounted needle bearing axle unit; an exterior bin mounted nut; and an axle retainer unit in the arm. Installation and repair are accomplished from the interior of the bin by the turning of the bearing axle bolt which is threaded unto the arm, and upon disconnection from the arm is automatically gripped by a retainer washer for retention inside of the needle housing while the bin is in its loading position and momentarily arrested by a pin connecting both arms. Self-aligning and linear control is accomplished by the substantially wide needle bearing housing providing full support to the solidly mounted axle bolt.
