The new device prevents vibrational disassembly of the complementary fittings without preventing disassembly solely with wrenches. Moreover, the complementary fittings and capture device can be repeatedly assembled and disassembled without any damage to the threads or capture device.

The ring has a plurality of projections which fit into a plurality of radial slots in the rim for preventing relative rotation between the locking ring and fastener. A snap ring or the like can be used for releasably spacing the locking ring away from the bottom of the annular channel so that the projections on the ring can engage projections on the outer member and prevent relative rotation between the outer member and the split ring.

    Abstract: A self-retaining locking assembly for threaded couplings. An externally threaded bolt rod end bearing is threadedly secured to a nut or internally threaded piston rod. The bearing includes an axially extending keyway along the threads, and the piston rod includes a circumferential groove at the mating end as well as radially extending slots in the mating face. An annular lock member has a lug projecting radially inwardly of the central aperture for engaging the keyway, and ribs and clips for mating with the radial slots and annular groove, respectively, when the rod is threaded upon the bearing. The lock member therefore cannot rotate relative to the bearing, and the piston rod cannot rotate relative to the lock member whereby the entire assembly is secured together in fixed relationship.

    Abstract: A fender and support bar is provided for automotive vehicle wheel sets. The fender comprises a panel having a support seat formed thereon intermediate its longitudinal ends and the support comprises an elongated tube which is rigidly connected to the panel. The rigid mechanical connection is provided by pairs of clamping plates disposed at opposite sides of an inner wall of the support bar and a wheel set facing surface of the fender panel. A plurality of clamping bolts are positioned along the elongated clamping plates and the heads of these bolts are secured to that clamping plate inserted within the interior of the tube to facilitate assembly. Mounting of the support bar in supported relationship to a vehicle chassis is by a telescopic sleeve assembly utilizing compression clamps to obtain a fixed position connection.
