  • Patent number: 11794418
Abstract: A system for coupling pipes includes a first pipe having a tapered, spigot end; a second pipe having a tapered, spigot end; wherein the first pipe and the second pipe are made from a reinforced thermosetting resin (RTR), and a coupler having two tapered socket ends adapted to internally receive the respective tapered, spigot ends of the first pipe and the second pipe, wherein a thermoplastic material is disposed between an exterior of the first pipe and an interior of the coupler. A thermoplastic material is disposed between an exterior of the second pipe and the interior of the coupler. Upon application of induction heating to the coupler, the heat between the first pipe, the second pipe, and the coupler is sufficient to melt the thermoplastic material such that, when the heat is removed, the hardened thermoplastic material seals the first pipe and the second pipe to the coupler.

  • Patent number: 8608012
Abstract: An automotive fuel tank is provided in which a plurality of mounting members are provided on a built-in part which are fusion bonded to an inner surface of an outer wall of the fuel tank so as to attach the built-in part in place in the fuel tank. An abutment portion is formed on the mounting member which is brought into abutment with an inner surface of the outer wall of the fuel tank. The abutment portion has formed thereon an abutment surface which is made to tightly stick to the inner surface of the outer wall of the fuel tank and elongated projections which project from the abutment surface, whose cross section at their distal end portions is of triangular shape and which penetrate into an interior of the outer wall of the fuel tank, and a height of an apex of the elongated projection from the abutment surface is in the range of 30% to 70% of a thickness of the outer wall of the fuel tank.

  • Patent number: 8496421
Abstract: Apparatus and Method of use for an improved lock nut type of fastener. On a threaded rod, a set of one or two cavity locknuts are used with a sleeve like ferrule to lock a nut in a set position on the rod. For example a nut that is clamping a workpiece can be held in place (resisting if not preventing loosening) by suitable application of the ferrule and cavity locknut. The cavity locknut has a tapered funnel-like cavity in a nut face around the nut's threaded hole. Locking is accomplished by immobilizing the ferrule on the rod and against the nut to be held, orienting the cavity side of the cavity locknut toward the ferrule, and forcefully torquing the cavity nut against and around the ferrule so that it is crimped against the threaded rod by the tapered cavity in the nut.

  • Publication number: 20090290953
Abstract: There is provided a screw treated by a chemical conversion coating of trivalent chromium having a torque characteristic approximately equivalent to a screw of a hexavalent chromate treatment. For the purpose, on a surface of a bolt, a zinc plating layer is formed by a zinc plating treatment. On the layer, a chemical conversion coating of trivalent chromium is also formed by a treatment of chemical conversion coatings of trivalent chromium. The coating is formed to be thin and soft so that the zinc-based plating layer can be exposed on the surface due to rubbing off of the chemical conversion coating of trivalent chromium at a contact portion to a fastened member of the bolt by tightening the bolt.
