Publication number: 20090274535Abstract: A threaded element (1) is provided having at least two slots (3), notches, grooves or the like that intersect the thread (2). The slots (3), notches, grooves or the like are configured in relation to the thread (2) so that they intersect the thread (2) to form a sharp cutting edge on the thread flanks (4), thus preventing reverse rotation. The slots, notches or grooves have no more than 25-times the pitch and the same rotational direction as the thread.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2006Publication date: November 5, 2009Applicant: SFS INTEC HOLDING AGInventor: Roland Mair

Patent number: 7102879Abstract: An industrial computer hinge assembly includes a bolt having a head and an extension, a first positioning ring with a first hook, a second positioning ring with a second hook, multiple leaf springs and an assembly device having an extension hole and a first fixing hole defined in a main board casing to correspond to the extension of the bolt and the first hook respectively and a hole and a second fixing hole defined in a screen casing to correspond to the extension and the second hook respectively. After the extension combines with the nut, engagement between the first positioning ring and the second positioning ring provides friction force to support the screen casing relative to the main board casing.Type: GrantFiled: May 6, 2003Date of Patent: September 5, 2006Inventor: Steven Lee

Patent number: 6881019Abstract: A structure and method for a locknut with a substantially rigid locking member is provided. The locking nut has an elongated body relative to a comparable standard, non-locking nut. The elongated body allows the nut to provide a standard length of thread for engaging bolt members, while also defining a void for the receipt and retention of a removable and replaceable rigid locking member. In a preferred embodiment, the member-carrying void has a forged gear-shaped side-wall structure that substantially engages the locking member within the void while shipping or handling the lock nut, and also causes the member to rotate with the nut as the nut is rotated onto a bolt member, and off of the bolt when loosened. One of either of the bolt threads and locking insert deform responsive to the compressive forces, locking the nut onto the bolt.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2002Date of Patent: April 19, 2005Assignee: The Dyson CorporationInventors: Theodore L. Patent number: 5542799Abstract: A shaft has a head attached at one end and terminates at the other end in a tapered tip. A slot passes through the shaft, extending from the end opposite the head at least partially along the length of the shaft. Helical thread segments extend along the shaft, matching the thread in the threaded hole. The screw is inserted by pushing it into the threaded hole; the shaft halves are compressed together until the outer diameter of the thread segments on the shaft is smaller than the inner diameter of the threads in the threaded hole. The shaft halves spring back to their uncompressed position after insertion. The thread segments on the shaft mesh with the thread in the hole, retaining the shaft in the hole after insertion. The shaft must be removed by unscrewing the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: December 2, 1994Date of Patent: August 6, 1996Assignee: Agora Enterprises, L.L.P.Inventor: James E. Culpen

Patent number: 5517850Abstract: Sensitive rotating viscometers which include a head, rotor and stator, for example, a Brookfield viscometer, and have their head supported by a hollow housing and their stator held in place by the same hollow housing are improved by an internally threaded wall in a lower portion of the hollow support member, having means to exert guiding pressure on a means to accept pressure of a correspondingly, externally threaded nut, the correspondingly, externally threaded nut for attachment within the internally threaded wall, which threaded nut has an extension which is perforately slotted, the nut extension having the means to accept pressure, so as to cause the nut extension to be directed inwardly by tightening of the nut within the internally threaded wall, so as to cause snug contact between the lower interior surface of the hollow support member and the exterior cylindrical surface of the stator. The device may be embodied as a separable collar housing and stator/tube collar with such an aforesaid nut.Type: GrantFiled: November 8, 1994Date of Patent: May 21, 1996Assignee: Tannas Co.Inventor: John L. Patent number: 5454674Abstract: A lock nut includes a nut body (10) having outer (12) and inner (14) circumferential surfaces. The inner surface (14) defines a screw-threaded axial through-hole that can be mounted on an externally threaded shaft. A plurality of blind bores (18) is formed in the nut body (10), each blind bore extending radially inwardly from the outer surface. Those blind bores (18) terminate short of the inner surface so that a plastically displaceable part (20) of the nut body remains between each blind bore and the inner surface to close-off a radial inner end of the blind bore (18). Locking screws (30) are mounted in respective blind bores (18). By tightening the locking screws (30), the displaceable portions (20) are pressed against the externally threaded shaft to frictionally grip the shaft.Type: GrantFiled: August 18, 1994Date of Patent: October 3, 1995Assignee: SKF Mekan ABInventor: Arne Eriksson

Patent number: 5071301Abstract: A stud for securing a cylinder liner to a head has a modified thread form engaging a threaded hole in the stud with an interference fit. The thread is rolled and all threads have the same pitch diameter except the endmost thread. Three relief channels are formed in the threads and extend axially from the stud end through several threads while some full threads remain to engage the hole. The relief channels decrease hoop stress in the threaded hole and allow debris developed during installation to escape from the thread interface to prevent entrapment therein.Type: GrantFiled: February 28, 1991Date of Patent: December 10, 1991Assignee: General Motors CorporationInventors: Dale F. Patent number: 4923323Abstract: A fastener for use where a predetermined holding force of holding position is to be maintained while the fastener is required to exert a holding force less than the full maximum force it is capable of exerting, the fastener having a shaft portion that threadedly fits into a nut, the shaft portion having an angular cut forming a spring like member, with an outer projecting portion biased toward a surface of the nut for causing a resistance to rotation of the fastener relative to the nut, and wherein the nut may take the form of a thrust collar that receives a number of the fasteners for maintaining a bearing on a journal.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1986Date of Patent: May 8, 1990Inventor: Rolf H. Patent number: 4854844Abstract: A differential screw adjusting mechanism comprised of an externally and internally threaded adjusting nut which has a plurality of slots formed along its length. The internal threads of the adjusting nut cooperatively and threadedly engage screw threads at the end of each of the expansion rods. The rods are in turn fixed to the lip of the die via set screws or jam nuts. A spool having an internally threaded diameter and a slot along its length is engaged to the external threads of the adjusting nut. The head of the spool has a flattened portion to limit rotation of the spool when clamped in place. Thus, the slotted adjusting nut is overfit with the slotted spool. The entire assembly of spool, nut, and rod is clamped in place via a clamping arrangement affixed to the die. The tightening of the clamp serves to close the spool via the slot over the nut, and in turn, the nut, via its slots, over the rod.Type: GrantFiled: June 29, 1988Date of Patent: August 8, 1989Assignee: John Brown, Inc.Inventor: Richard A.
