Patent number: 12214714Abstract: A fastener for fastening an ISO container to a ship, truck, trailer, another ISO container or other structure. In one embodiment an elongated nut is inserted into an elongated aperture of the ISO container's corner casting, and is rotated 90 degrees to be transverse to the longitudinal axis of the aperture. A threaded shaft is rotated, after being inserted in a slot of a plate mounted to the structure, causing the plate and elongated nut to be drawn closer to one another, thereby clamping the corner casting between the nut and the plate. In another embodiment an elongated nut is inserted into the elongated aperture and is rotated 90 degrees. A line extends from a winch mounted to the structure and is mounted to a loop at the opposite end from the nut. The winch tightens the strap, drawing the loop, nut and, thereby, the container against the structure.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2021Date of Patent: February 4, 2025Inventor: Sean Phoenix Jones

Patent number: 8545152Abstract: The invention relates to a screw which can be screwed into a component and which will resist further screwing into an internal thread within said component once a maximum torque has been reached. For this purpose, a screw body having an external thread is combined with a screw drive element which projects into a bore within said screw body and, within said bore, is connected to the screw body via static friction. At least part of this combination is made of a plastic material, with the static friction having the effect of a slipping clutch when a maximum torque acts on the screw drive element. The screw drive element is connected to the screw body via a ratchet in such a way that when the screw body is unscrewed from the internal thread within said component, turning said screw drive element will cause the ratchet to engage, thereby entraining the screw body.Type: GrantFiled: September 22, 2009Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Ejot GmbH & Co., KGInventors: Rolf Kuenkel, Walter Kornsteiner, Reinhold Lenherr, Axel Tome

Patent number: 6010289Abstract: The locking nut and bolt system utilizes a bolt with thread having a plurality of notches generally longitudinally spaced in a predetermined pattern. Each notch has a lock face and an opposing slope. The locking unit carries one or more tines. The tine has a distal tine end adapted to latch onto the lock face of the notch on the bolt and, when the distal tine end is not disposed in one or more notches, the tine end moves on the bolt thread crest. When the distal tine end is in the notch or notches, the lock face of the notch prevents counter-rotational movement of the bolt with respect to the nut when the distal tine end abuts the lock face. The locking unit supports the tine and may be cylindrical, rectangular or on a perpendicular support face normal to a radial plane through the axial centerline of the nut thread. The locking unit may be on a nut insert or may be carried on the leg of a U, J or S-shaped clip. The locking unit may be recessed as a blind hole.Type: GrantFiled: April 7, 1998Date of Patent: January 4, 2000Assignee: Permanent Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Robert J. DiStasio, Stephen G. Patent number: 5362110Abstract: A new capture device comprising a plurality of axially extending tangs on one of a pair of complementary fittings in a fluid coupling and a polygonal circumferential groove on the other fitting adapted to engage the tangs. Upon rotational engagement of the fittings the tangs engage the polygonal groove and "ratchet" about the junctures between the flats until the coupling is tight. Although not limited to particular materials, the new capture device is particularly suited to very tough, strong and hard materials such as titanium, stainless steel and Inconel alloy because the effectiveness of the capture device is dependent upon the stiffness of the tangs. The new device prevents vibrational disassembly of the complementary fittings without preventing disassembly solely with wrenches. Moreover, the complementary fittings and capture device can be repeatedly assembled and disassembled without any damage to the threads or capture device.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1992Date of Patent: November 8, 1994Assignee: Moeller Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventor: Kurt K.
