Made Up Of Plural Expansible Segments Or Sections Patents (Class 411/32)
  • Patent number: 5885031
Abstract: An anchor for a mine roof bolt incorporates a single large rib at the top of a segmented shell. This single large rib is forced into the wall of the bore hole by the downward movement of an associated threaded camming nut during the first few revolutions of the roof bolt. The remainder of the outer surface is generally smooth or unserrated and provides a large bearing surface which is urged against the bore hole wall upon further rotation of the bolt. The camming nut has a specific shape flaring substantially near its upper end such that a relative large area of the bore hole wall below the rib is forced into compression.

  • Patent number: 5813808
Abstract: A forward and reverse expanding type expansion screw has a bolt, a nut, a forward expanding plug, a retaining tapered ring, and a backward expanding plug. By inserting the bolt through the forward expanding plug, the retaining tapered ring and the reverse expanding plug in order, the expansion screw can be inserted into a wall hole, the bolt can be driven to lock to the nut, the reverse expanding plug first expanding in the reverse direction by a pushing effect caused by the retaining tapered ring, and then the forward expanding plug is pushed forward and expanded in the forward direction. By expanding in opposite directions a cross expanding and squeezing effect is achieved to provide a very stable securing effect. A two-way sleeve and connecting sleeves may be further connected to provide fixed points for the expansion of the plugs and to extend the length of the expansion screw to meet different requirements.

  • Patent number: 5593261
Abstract: A fail-safe anchor bolt assembly installable in a pre-drilled hole in masonry to fasten a fixture or other object thereto, the assembly remaining securely anchored even should the hole later be enlarged as a result of a crack developed in the masonry. The assembly includes a bolt having a head engageable by a torque tool to turn the bolt and a shank extending from the head loosely encircled by an expansible shell whose normal outer diameter is close to that of the drilled hole. Threadably received on the rear end of the shank adjacent the shell is a conical frustrum-shaped wedge nut effectively divided into a leading zone and a trailing zone. The leading zone has a maximum diameter substantially equal to the normal outer diameter of the shell whereby in the course of installing the assembly as the bolt is turned to advance the leading zone of the nut into the shell, the shell is then expanded against the wall of the hole to produce an anchoring force.
