And Pivoted Retention Means Patents (Class 411/345)
  • Patent number: 5156482
Abstract: Axial slots are provided within threaded ends of connection rods which are oppositely threaded into axially aligned tapped bores within longitudinally spaced end walls of an elongated hollow frame turnbuckle body. Elongated lock plates are pivotally mounted, respectively, at one end thereof to the connecting rod, within the axial slots. The lock plates have limited rotation between a first axially aligned position with the axis of the connection rods and a second position at some angle thereto. In the second position the end of the lock plates project radially outwardly of the connection rod slots into contact with a side wall of the elongated hollow turnbuckle body to prevent rotation of the turnbuckle body relative to the connection rods.

  • Patent number: 5112155
Abstract: A connector for assembling components of scaffolding is disclosed comprising a barrel having an opposite end having a longitudinally extending slot. A pivot pin and an abutment pin extends across the slot and mounted at the opposite end of the barrel. A free hanging latch has an offset aperture for pivotally mounting onto the pivot pin and a channel for receiving the abutment pin. One end of the channel is configured to abut with the abutment pin when the latch is in a locked position and the other end of the channel being configured to abut the abutment pin when the latch is in an unlocked position. The latch has a tab which is offset beyond the end of the barrel whereby pressing on the tab, the latch pivots from the locked position to the unlocked position allowing egress of the brace from the connector.

  • Patent number: 4865501
Abstract: A slide fastener and apparatus is provided for securing a fixture having a hole therethrough to a surface having a hole therethrough. The apparatus comprises a brace that operates in two positions: a retracted position for insertion through the aligned holes, and a locking position that is substantially perpendicular to the central axis of the aligned holes. A tail is flexibly connected to the mid-section of the brace and adapted to slidably carry a lock piece that urges the brace to the locking position and bears upon the fixture to secure the fixture to the surface. The lock piece may be advanced inward toward the brace, but not retracted outward away from the brace.

  • Patent number: 4704057
Abstract: An improved fastening element for securement within an opening and of the type comprising (a) a head portion; (b) a connecting portion comprising a longitudinally extending body portion including a pair of opposed pillar-like parts, for insertion into such opening; and (c) at the end of said connecting portion remote from the head portion, locking means movable between a collapsed position in which the fastening element is insertable into the opening and an expanded position in which the locking means is effective in cooperation with an elongated retaining element inserted into the connecting portion to preclude removal of the fastening element from the opening.

  • Patent number: 4671718
Abstract: A fastener in which a captive bolt engages a cylindrical nut within a cylrical confining housing. The cylindrical nut has a longitudinal slot in which a pair of oppositely facing latches are disposed and which cooperate with the housing to prevent the rotation of the nut. Rotation of the captive bolt moves the cylindrical nut longitudinally within the housing and operates to extend the ends of the latches to engage a surface or to retract the ends of the latches to within the nut.

  • Patent number: 4650386
Abstract: A fully articulable positioning device for positioning an elongated member comprising a pair of legs hingeably attached to the elongated member at one end of the legs and a slideable connection at the opposite end of the legs. The slideable connection is of the pin and slot variety wherein each leg contains a pin and slot for communication with the slot and pin of the other leg. The leg may be of any length suitable for their intended use and may be improved by the addition of handle-like projections at the slideably connected end.

  • Patent number: 4488842
Abstract: An improvement to expansible bushing type locking pins which include a handle or clip having camming means at one end to operate the bushings. Such handles or clips include an opening which cooperates with the adjusting nut on the free end of the locking pin to secure the assemblage together and in place on the parts to be assembled using the locking pin and clip assembly. The improvement comprises a nose cone on the free end of the locking pin having a circular cross-sectional shape, the nose cone overlying the adjusting nut so that the criticality of position of the nut on the pin in the prior art is avoided, while at the same time the tapered nose cone provides a guiding function to mount the pin into the parts to be assembled together.

  • Patent number: 4439079
Abstract: An anchor assembly for use on a wall to support a fixture or load thereon which includes an elongated anchor plate sized to be received in a hole formed in a wall and which in the operative position abutts the blind side of the wall. A pair of flexible leg members are hingedly connected to the anchor plate in a manner to control the positioning of the anchor plate on the blind side of the wall, and having a slip collar slidably mounted on the leg members whereby the collar is ratcheted along the leg member in a unidirectional manner to firmly secure the anchor plate to the blind side of the wall and whereby the collar can be readily released to render it freely slidable along the leg members to facilitate assembly and removal of the anchor assembly.

  • Patent number: 4294156
Abstract: An improved anchor assembly for retaining an elongated fastener member within an opening defined by a wall portion having at least one concealed side. Such devices typically comprise at least two elongated leg members, means for connecting a pair of adjacent end portions of the leg members, an apertured anchor member coupled to the legs at opposite end portions and a collar member secured to the legs for sandwiching the wall portion between the collar and the anchor member. The improvement comprises providing each of the legs with respective coupling studs aligned along their major transverse dimensions for engaging substantially longitudinal flanges from anchor member on either side thereof or attaching the legs across the minor dimension of the anchor.

  • Patent number: 4286497
Abstract: In combination with a conventional toggle fastener adapted for insertion into and to secure behind a blind entry, a ratchet assembly adapted to retain the toggle fastener in the blind entry and to adjust for the depth of such entry, the ratchet assembly comprising at least one ratchet bar and a cooperating ratchet retainer adapted to slide on the ratchet bar. Excess length of the ratchet bar is removed to permit a conventional screw fastener to be engaged through the blind entry to the toggle wing assembly. The ratchet bar may be comprised of a ribbed construction, such as a saw-toothed surface, or a sequence of retaining openings therein.

  • Patent number: 4285264
Abstract: A hollow wall fastener using a conventional toggle bolt and a toggle anchor which is pointed and which has an open groove for receiving the toggle bolt. An end cap within the anchor has an internally threaded head portion and a frangible portion which allows the head portion to separate from the rest of the end cap when the end of the bolt is threaded into the head portion, thus twisting the frangible portion until it breaks. Thereafter the head portion prevents withdrawal of the toggle bolt from the anchor. The end of the groove has a threaded portion which cooperates with a threaded portion of an aperture opposite the groove to permit the anchor to pivot with respect to the bolt to a position where the bolt is threadably engaged and locked in the threaded portions of the anchor, forming a "T" configuration behind the surface of the hollow wall. Thereafter the bolt may be rotated to draw the anchor tightly against the interior of the hollow wall.
