  • Patent number: 6616391
Abstract: A fastener for use in conjunction with plastic lumber is provided with an undercut head and radially projecting helical flutes on the shank which combine to contain plastic lumber material displaced by the shank and head beneath the head, permitting a single step installation to produce a finished appearance. The helical flutes have an opposed helical orientation to the screw threads. This opposed relationship causes the flutes to push displaced plastic lumber material away from the screw head while the flutes bore a space for plastic lumber material displaced by countersinking the screw head. The undercut head may be provided with a series of teeth around the underside of the head periphery. The teeth aid in penetrating the surface of the plastic lumber. The teeth also resist backing out of the screw.

Abstract: A screw used for securing a corrugated plastic board includes a head, a threaded rod part, and not-threaded rod part between the head and the threaded rod part. The not-threaded rod part has a pair of wings sticking out from two opposing sides. The wings each has a curved lateral edge, a curved lower edge, and a sharp point formed at the joint between the lateral edge and the lower edge. The corrugated plastic board is cut to have hole having a diameter larger than the rod part by the sharp points of the wings so as to keep the edge of the hole away from the rod part when the rod parts are passed through the plastic board to secure same onto a support frame. Thus, the board won't have cracks formed on the edge of the hole when it is moved by strong wind.

  • Patent number: 6382892
Abstract: A wall anchor for use in a friable material, composed of a generally cylindrical body having a flanged end, a central portion, and a drill end. The drill end has a generally flat blade which includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion has a first angled cutting edge and a first side cutting edge, and the second portion has a second angled cutting edge and a second side cutting edge. These portions are formed on a common line and are offset relative to each other along a plane passing through a diameter of the cylindrical body, and these portions together form a point. The central portion and the flange end have a combined axial length, and the drill end has an axial length which is shorter than that of the central portion and the flange end.

Abstract: Conductive devices and tools to provide electrical conduction with a generally planar conductor which is covered with an insulation substance such as paint, rust or dust, by scraping a portion of the conductor and removing the insulation substance. A conductive device includes a conductive metal serration means and a tool utilizes such a serration device. Such a serration device can be a bolt device, nut device or washer device, or washer-incorporated threaded device. A connector device is also disclosed to provide electrical conduction between a conductor and a conductor plate covered with an insulation substance.

Abstract: A screw has a shank portion (20) provided with a thread (21) and passing over via a transition into a conical tip (22). One or more parallel fins (24) are provided at least in the area of the tip. They are formed with cutting edges (23) and preferably disposed at an angle of inclination (13) of no less than 5° with respect to the longitudinal axis of the screw. The fins (24) project beyond the core diameter (1) of the shank portion (20). The conical tip (22) includes a finless end portion (26). The thread (21), however, extends across the full length of the tip (22).

Abstract: A masonry anchor is provided with a reaming portion which includes recessed portions for defining reservoir regions for accumulating debris generated by the reaming operation when the anchor is installed within a masonry structure. The accumulation of the debris within the reservoir regions reduces torsional friction and installation torque characteristic of the anchor installation operation. Masonry anchors which are self-tapping or self-threading and which do not have reaming portions operatively associated therewith can also have such recessed reservoir structure defined thereon for such similar dust and debris accumulation and discharge purposes.

Abstract: Screw fasteners are used to connect multiple trusses in side-by-side relationship. The screw fasteners join truss wood members which are in edge to edge relationship with the screws being driven through the edge of each wood member. The screws may be knurled screws as described in U.S. Pat. No. 6,109,850; lag screws, or standard screws. The connection may also join wood board members in edge-to-edge relationship when bending of the wood members is limited by a restraining structure.
