In use, after the lower threaded portion is completely inserted into the material, the upper threaded portion of the fastener enters the material.

Abstract: A wood screw includes a head part, a tapered insert part, and a shank part disposed between the head part and the tapered insert part. The shank part has first and second shank segments adjacent to the head part and the tapered insert part, respectively. The first shank segment has a first radius. The second shank segment has a surface that is formed with a screw thread. The screw thread includes interconnected thread sections that have a second radius larger than the first radius. The surface of the second shank segment is further formed with at least one projecting element between two neighboring interconnected ones of the thread sections that are proximate to the tapered insert part. The projecting element has a greatest radial dimension with respect to the shank axis that is greater than the first radius and less than the second radius.

Abstract: A wood screw to be used exclusively for fastening a wooden plate mainly has a screw shank helically disposed with squared threads, wherein a shaft flange is disposed at the bottom end of the screw shank to be parallel or slanted to the longitudinal axis of the screw shank between the upper and the bottom rims of the third and fourth threads. The shaft flange is in a convex trapezoid shape and is positioned vertically along the shank to make a pointed or planar cut so as to reduce friction for a smoother driving, an easier and labor-saving operation.

Abstract: A fastener for use in conjunction with plastic lumber is provided with an undercut head and radially projecting helical flutes on the shank which combine to contain plastic lumber material displaced by the shank and head beneath the head, permitting a single step installation to produce a finished appearance. The helical flutes have an opposed helical orientation to the screw threads. This opposed relationship causes the flutes to push displaced plastic lumber material away from the screw head while the flutes bore a space for plastic lumber material displaced by countersinking the screw head. The undercut head may be provided with a series of teeth around the underside of the head periphery. The teeth aid in penetrating the surface of the plastic lumber. The teeth also resist backing out of the screw.

Abstract: A screw used for securing a corrugated plastic board includes a head, a threaded rod part, and not-threaded rod part between the head and the threaded rod part. The not-threaded rod part has a pair of wings sticking out from two opposing sides. The wings each has a curved lateral edge, a curved lower edge, and a sharp point formed at the joint between the lateral edge and the lower edge. The corrugated plastic board is cut to have hole having a diameter larger than the rod part by the sharp points of the wings so as to keep the edge of the hole away from the rod part when the rod parts are passed through the plastic board to secure same onto a support frame. Thus, the board won't have cracks formed on the edge of the hole when it is moved by strong wind.

The drill end has a generally flat blade which includes a first portion and a second portion. The first portion has a first angled cutting edge and a first side cutting edge, and the second portion has a second angled cutting edge and a second side cutting edge. These portions are formed on a common line and are offset relative to each other along a plane passing through a diameter of the cylindrical body, and these portions together form a point. The central portion and the flange end have a combined axial length, and the drill end has an axial length which is shorter than that of the central portion and the flange end.
