Publication number: 20120132099Abstract: A primer composition that includes red phosphorus having an acid scavenger and a polymer thereon. The primer composition includes at least one other component that is substantially free of lead. The other component is at least one oxidizer, or at least one oxidizer and at least one of at least one secondary explosive composition and at least one energetic binder. The primer composition optionally includes at least one element having an ionic charge to ionic radius ratio of 4 or of 8, such as magnesium, zirconium, aluminum, silicon, titanium, tungsten, alloys thereof, and combinations thereof. The red phosphorus and the at least one oxidizer are present in the primer composition at approximately stoichiometric amounts. An ordnance element including the primer composition is also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 19, 2008Publication date: May 31, 2012Inventors: Randall T. Busky, Tod R. Botcher, Joel L. Sandstrom, Jack A. Erickson

Patent number: 7674276Abstract: A suture fixation apparatus having a first body portion having a bone engaging feature to fixedly engage a bony tissue and a second body portion defining an eyelet for receipt of a suture. The second body portion is rotatable with respect to the first body portion. Rotating the second body portion causes the suture to form a twist to frictionally secure the suture.Type: GrantFiled: October 6, 2006Date of Patent: March 9, 2010Assignee: Biomet Sports Medicine, LLCInventors: Kevin T Stone, Gregory J Denham, Julie L Sauer

Patent number: 4986708Abstract: A separable fastener includes a fastener body having a head end and a shank nd. The head end defines a generally cylindrical open ended cavity in which a cylindrical punch is disposed. The cavity is sealed and closed by a gas generator that develops an increasing fluid pressure against the punch. The punch is restrained within the cavity by a retaining ring which yields once a preselected gas pressure is reached. The release of the punch causes it to rapidly accelerate in a short distance to impact the shank end of the fastener body. The shank end is thereby sheared from the body with the void created in the body being sealed by the impacting punch.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1989Date of Patent: January 22, 1991Assignee: The United States of America as represneted by the Secretary of the NavyInventors: Martin E. Moore, Robert R. Bennett
