    Abstract: A blind fastener is disclosed comprised of a rivet having an axial internally threaded bore and a threaded pin to be received within the threaded bore of the rivet. The rivet has a head at one end thereof, and preferably a chamfered bore at the other end thereof. The rivet is provided with a plurality of cuts in the outer wall of the rivet, extending axially along the wall of the rivet and forming zones of weakness in the rivet wall. The threaded pin has an outwardly protruding portion, preferably bell-shaped, and a head at the other end of the pin, such as a square head, for threading the pin through the rivet. When the pin is threaded into the rivet, the protruding bell-shaped end portion thereof is received within the chamfered bore of the rivet. The rivet-pin assembly is positioned in a hole of parts to be fastened.

    Abstract: A mounting assembly for mounting an object to a plasterboard wall includes a molded plastic bracket formed with a hollow barrel at one end and a clip at the other end to support an object. An anchor having a pointed stem portion and a head at the other end, is inserted through the hollow barrel of the bracket and then drive into the plasterboard. The anchor includes an axial bore extending from the head end along part of the stem portion and a through slot extends from the axial bore toward the pointed end thereby defining two opposed stem sections. Inwardly extending projections on each stem section cooperate with a nail to expand the two opposed stem sections and to snap those sections apart adjacent the pointed end. Mating keyways formed on the anchor keys formed on the hollow barrel orient the stem sections one vertically above the other when the anchor is in place within the wall.

    Abstract: An expansion dowel includes an axially extending expansion sleeve and an expansion member rolled from a section of sheet metal. The sleeve has a leading end and a trailing end and the inside surface of the sleeve is threaded for an axially extending section from the trailing end. The thread is formed before the sheet metal is rolled. To assure there is no misalignment of the thread along the butt joint, tangs and recesses are formed along the edges of the butt joint so that the edges interengage one another when the sheet metal section is rolled. By interengaging the butt joint edges, the sleeve does not expand circumferentially when a bolt is threaded into the trailing end of the sleeve.

    Abstract: A plastic rivet consisting of rivet body comprised of a flanged head and a leg member extending from the bottom of the head, the rivet body having an axial hole extending through its entire length, and a pin which when inserted into the through-hole, expands the leg member. The leg member of the rivet body is provided with a movable leg which is deflected outward when the pin is inserted into the through-hole of the rivet body so as, for example, to catch and hold a pair of plates through which the rivet body has been passed between the head of the rivet body and the deflected movable leg. Pushing the pin further into the rivet body causes the deflected movable leg to return to its normal position, whereby the fastening action of the rivet is released.

    Abstract: An anchor bolt for clamping an object tightly against a receiving surface comprises a threaded elongated anchor rod having a head, an expansion body threadedly received on the rod in spaced relation to the head, and an expansion sleeve on the expansion body that is expanded as the rod is threaded into the expansion body. The anchor rod extends through an outer sleeve between an abutment on the head and an abutment on the expansion body, and spacers, such as a coiled spring or further sleeves, are provided between the anchor rod and the outer sleeve. The bolt provides improved shear resistance and anti-vibration efficiency.

    Abstract: A dowel for insertion into a borehole in a structural unit includes a dowel body and a spreading member. The dowel body is axially elongated and has a cylindrically shaped outside surface with a bore extending axially through the body. The body is formed of a sintered dry powdered metal made up primarily of iron and having a weight in the range of 5 to 7 g/cm.sup.3. Phosphorus in the range of 0.1 to 1% can be added to the dry powdered material to increase its cohesion. Further, the sintered material can be reinforced with fibers. An axially extending portion of the bore is conically shaped and the spreading member is similarly conically shaped for radially expanding the dowel body within the borehole.

    Abstract: An expansion anchor assembly is made up of an anchor bolt and an expansion sleeve encircling and secured in an annular recess on the bolt. Adjacent the annular recess, the anchor bolt has a frusto-conical section. The expansion sleeve has diametrically opposite reduced thickness wall sections with a projection extending outwardly of the surface of the sleeve along each of the reduced thickness wall sections. When the expansion anchor assembly is inserted into a prepared borehole and the frusto-conical section is drawn into the sleeve, the sleeve breaks into axially extending sections along the reduced thickness wall sections and a uniform contact is provided between the sleeve section and the borehole surface.

    Abstract: A fixing plug contains a metallic expanding sleeve having a slotted end portion or section. Engaging with this slotted end portion is an expanding element which contains a body formed of an oscillation damping material and in which there are embedded a conical sleeve and in axial spacing therefrom a connection element or part. The conical sleeve coacts with the slotted end portion. The connection part serves for the attachment of an attachment screw of the like and for drawing the expanding element into the slotted end portion of the expanding sleeve. At the end portion located opposite the slotted end portion there is arranged an internal lining formed of an oscillation damping material. This internal lining or covering is constructed as an insert body member and possesses a part which protrudes past the expanding sleeve. The fixing plug affords both good attachment properties and good oscillation damping properties.

    Abstract: A plastic screw anchor for fastening fixtures and other objects to a hollow wall, the anchor including a four-legged diamond-shaped shank whose front legs are joined together by a front apex living hinge and whose rear legs are joined to the front legs by side apex living hinges, the ends of the rear legs defining a rear apex. Secured by a pair of normally outstretched resilient webs to the rear legs of the shank is a flanged socket whose bore lies in registration with an opening formed in the front apex hinge. The diamond-shaped shank is collapsible to form a tongue that is insertable in a hole drilled in the wall to accommodate the socket, the webs then reverting to their outstretched condition to cause the shank which is now behind the wall to recover its diamond formation. When a self-tapping screw is turned into the socket bore, it acts to thread the bore.
