Patent number: 5641255Abstract: A clip which is comprised of a male member and a female member. The male member is inserted into the female member, and an inserting portion of a leg of the male member passes through split pieces of the female member. The clip in which the male member and the female member are assembled is inserted into through holes in panels to be fastened. When the male member is slightly pulled back, tip ends of the split pieces are engaged in engaging holes in the inserting portion, allowing the clip to be pressed in with the split pieces set in a state of reduced diameter. When the fastened state of the panels is canceled, the male member is pulled out, and the tip ends of the split pieces are engaged in the engaging holes in the inserting portion while being guided by guide grooves. Patent number: 5370484Abstract: In a push rivet consisting of a grommet part and a pin part so that two panel members may be joined together first by passing the grommet part through an opening passed through these panel members, and forcing the pin part into a central bore of the grommet part to radially expand the free end of the grommet part, because the head of the pin part is provided with an outer profile which conforms to an outer profile of a part of the flange surrounding the pin head when the pin part is completely forced into the central bore, the fastener presents a smooth appearance which is pleasing to the eyes, and the pin part is prevented from being inadvertently pulled out of the grommet part even when an external object is struck against the pin head. However, a gap is defined between the pin head and the surrounding part of the grommet part so that the push rivet can be readily unfastened by fitting a pointed end of a tool into the gap, and pulling the pin part out of the central bore by using the tool as a lever.Type: GrantFiled: October 29, 1993Date of Patent: December 6, 1994Assignee: Nifco, Inc.Inventors: Hiroshi Morikawa, Hisashi Kubogouchi

Patent number: 5028187Abstract: According to the invention, there is provided a coupler which is realized in the form of an integral unit made of an elastic synthetic resin material which is free from any risk of losing any of its components and can be temporarily but securely held in aligned bores of the plaques it is going to couple once it is introduced into the bores so that the plug body of the coupler may be pushed into the socket body with ease. Moreover, since the socket body of the coupler firmly held in the bores of the plaques to be coupled and the plug body pushed into said socket body are connected with each other by means of a pair of thin support members to form an integral coupler unit, said plug body can be pushed into said socket body with a relatively small force to securely rigidly couple the plaques. As there are no parts of the unit which are prone to damage, it is good for repeated use.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1990Date of Patent: July 2, 1991Assignee: Kato Hatsujo Kaisha, Ltd.Inventor: Seiichi Sato

The cylindrical outer member has a cylindrical portion with an axial bore, and a flange portion provided at one end of the cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion tapers toward the other end thereof and includes a plurality of arially extending notches, a plurality of inner projections formed upon inner surfaces of the end portion, and elastically deformable locking pieces projecting obliquely outwardly from an intermediate portion thereof toward the flange portion. The insertion member has a large-diameter portion for disposition within the axial bore of the cylindrical portion. The cylindrical portion is expanded radially outwardly by inserting the insertion member into the axial bore of the cylindrical outer member from the flange portion end thereof and by bringing the large-diameter portion into engagement with the inner projections of the cylindrical portion of the insertion member.Type: GrantFiled: September 7, 1988Date of Patent: October 17, 1989Assignee: Nifco, Inc.Inventor: Tatsuya Iguchi

Patent number: 4840523Abstract: A securing device includes an outer cylinder having a hollow cylindrical portion with a flange provided at one end, and an insertion member having a rod-like portion to be inserted into the outer cylinder. The hollow cylindrical portion of the outer cylinder has a plurality of slits open at the other end, an inwardly projecting portion provided at the other end, and a plurality of engagement ribs projecting outwardly from the outer periphery of the cylindrical portion. A rod-like portion of the insertion member has a head portion provided at one end, an intermediate large diameter portion having an outer diameter which is greater than the inner diameter of the inwardly projecting portion of the outer cylinder, and a small diameter portion having an outer diameter smaller than the inner diameter of the inwardly projecting portion of the outer cylinder. The small diameter portion is provided upon the side of the large diameter portion which is located nearer the head portion of the insertion member.Type: GrantFiled: June 30, 1988Date of Patent: June 20, 1989Assignee: Nifco, Inc.Inventor: Tsutomu Oshida

Patent number: 4832547Abstract: An expansion fastener comprises a female member including a cylindrical portion, a flange portion and a plurality of elastic leg portions, and a male member including a shaft portion to be fitted in the cylindrical portion, a head portion provided at the upper end of the shaft portion and a leg portion expanding portion for causing outward deformation of the elastic leg protions. The cylindrical portion of the female member has a reduced-thickness break portion which extends along an overlap plane along which two plates overlap each other, and a radially inwardly constricted break portion is provided between the shaft portion and head portion of the male member.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1987Date of Patent: May 23, 1989Assignee: Nifco Inc.Inventor: Toshiyuki Shiraishi

Patent number: 4804303Abstract: An attachment block structure for connection through a preformed opening in a first workpiece to provide a fastener receiving surface to permit attachment of a second workpiece to the first workpiece comprises a first plastic member having a plurality of resilient legs depending from a radially extending flange. Latch elements are carried by the legs for retaining the first member in the preformed opening. The flange has a central passageway and a radial extent greater than the preformed opening to define a limit for movement of the first member into the preformed opening. A second plastic member is associated with the first member and has a body with an exterior surface sized to be closely received in the passageway of the first member to prevent radially inward deflection of the legs when the second member is inserted in the passageway.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 1987Date of Patent: February 14, 1989Assignee: TRW, Inc.Inventor: Robert J. Statkus

Patent number: 4407618Abstract: A fastener comprises a base formed of a flange and a plurality of leg pieces and a screw-receiving member adapted to be embraced between the leg pieces, whereby it is secured onto a given panel by a procedure which involves inserting the leg pieces into a fitting hole bored in advance in the panel, then inserting a fastening screw through a through hole formed in the flange into a screw hole formed within the screw-receiving member, imparting a helical motion of the fastening screw thereby drawing the screw-receiving member toward the flange, consequently causing the leg pieces to be spread outwardly within the fitting hole of the panel and brought into tight engagement with the fitting hole and, at the same time, enabling the fastening screw to be secured onto the panel through the medium of the base.Type: GrantFiled: March 6, 1981Date of Patent: October 4, 1983Assignee: Nifco Inc.Inventor: Shigeru Kimura
