An actuating mechanism is in communication with the plunging pin configured to move the plunging pin toward the distal end of the housing to displace the at least one locking ball ring assembly radially outward to hold the weld nut, and a restoring mechanism in communication with the plunging pin configured to move the plunging pin toward the proximal end of the housing to release the hold on the weld nut.

    Abstract: An expansion anchor includes a hollow shaft 3 and a bolt 9 to be screwed thereinto from a base end side of the hollow shaft. The hollow shaft 3 is formed, at a portion thereof short of a tip end 3a, with a radially expansive portion 7 which includes slits 6, and a multiplicity of balls 10 are inserted into the radially expansive portion 7. When the bolt 9 is screwed, the balls 10 push against each other and move radially. As a result, the radially expansive portion 7 deforms expansively for securely engaging with a pre-formed hole 2. Even when the radially expansive portion 7 expands, stress does not concentrate at a specific portion of an installation region 1, so that it is possible to provide a high withdrawal resistance while preventing cone-type failure. The management of the withdrawal resistance can be easily performed by screwing the bolt 9) using a wrench with a torque limiter or by screwing the bolt 9 using a torque wrench.

The portion of the fastener that captures the body soft tissue (tendon or ligaments) is biodegradable and the portion anchored to the bone is the titanium material. Another embodiment constructs the component that captures the body soft tissue into a pedal-like integral disk where each pedal flexes to conform to the shape of the bone surface adjacent thereto.

    Abstract: A railroad crosstie plug is positioned within an existing spike hole in a crosstie to restore a predetermined gage between parallel railroad rails. The plug comprises a hollow sleeve having a slot along one side thereof and an interior configuration complimentary to the configuration of the spike. A member separate from the sleeve is pivotally mounted at one end to a lower edge of the slot. The member also defines an impact surface extending across a portion of the interior of the sleeve. When a spike is forced into the sleeve against the impact surface, a second end of the member pivots out of the sleeve and into the surrounding wood of the railroad tie there by locking the sleeve and spike in place within the hole.

An annular recess is formed in the puller near the head and the other end of the body is crimped into the recess to aid expansion of the ribs. The puller is weakened at a point so that it will break upon continued pulling after the ribs reach a fully expanded state.

    Abstract: A mounting element for mounting an object on a support structure has an elongated expansion sleeve member insertable into a mounting hole of the support structure and having a longitudinal opening, and an elongated expander member insertable into the longitudinal opening so as to expand the expansion sleeve member and having a round thread and a pointed profile thread arranged on the peaks and/or valleys of the round thread and having a pitch corresponding to the pitch of the latter.

    Abstract: Disclosed is a straddling dowel, of plastic, having a continuous screw insertion hole and several expansion segments that are formed by longitudinal slits in the dowel body and which extend from the circular head portion to the circular foot portion of the dowel. In the latter part, a female thread can be cut by the inserted screw, thereby rendering axial expansion of the dowel body posible. The expansion segments are formed by overlapping annular plates or discs which, on spreading or axial expansion in the form of an increase in diameter or spreading move relative to each other over the whole extent of the contacting surfaces of adjacent plates or discs, which contacting surfaces run obliquely or conically to the axis of the dowel.
