Abstract: A cable lug and a method of use is provided. The cable lug has a receiving tube section for a cable, a flat piece-connecting section that is molded on and is provided with a bore, and a nut which is captively and preferably rotatably mounted on the flat piece-connecting section. The nut does not penetrate the flat piece-connecting section while being mounted by a shaped mounting material section of the flat piece-connecting section, which extends into an undercut in the nut. The mounting material section is in the undercut with an axial clearance. The mounting material section is rooted in a lowered in a step-type manner in the flat piece-connecting section. The lowered area is rotationally symmetrical and is provided with a conical section which opens outward and vertically and encompasses at least one conical area.
Abstract: An apparatus having a first panel and a second panel that may form part of a network enclosure. The first panel is connected to the second panel. A nut has a first portion and a second portion extending outwardly from the first portion. The second portion of the nut is trapped between the first panel and the second panel. There may also be a joining plate of a field replaceable unit fixable to the network enclosure by at least one bolt engaging the nut.
Abstract: A locking fastener in accordance with the invention comprises a head or a nut body having a radially outer surface defining an outer periphery of selectible configuration and a height dimension defining an axial direction. A shank or a locking neck portion extends axially from the head or nut body and has a radially outer surface defining an outer diameter of smaller cross-sectional dimension than the outer periphery of the head or nut body. A substantially flat radially extending locking surface is defined on the head or nut body between the outer surface thereof and the outer surface of the shank or locking neck, and a plurality of raised locking ribs extend across at least a portion of the locking surface, each of the ribs being arranged angularly offset in a direction corresponding to the direction of rotation of the nut to attain advancement toward a clamped engagement, (viz.
Abstract: A screw threaded insert adapted to be fitted in a bore of a workpiece made of thermoplastic material. The screw threaded insert is externally tapered at an angle of about four (4) degrees and is defined externally with a thread of approximately equal pitch and depth, and of saw toothed shape. The insert is also threaded internally for receiving a bolt. A pair of cutting slots is also provided.
Abstract: A stud fastening assembly 10 including a stud 11 having a threaded end threadable into a hole 15 formed in a workpiece 16 and a plurality of serrated rings 21 and 22 for securing the stud in place. The serrated rings include inner serrations 20 sized to slidably engage longitudinal serrations 14 formed on a mid-section of the stud and further include outer serrations 19 configured to engage the sidewalls of the hole formed in the workpiece and thereby prevent relative rotation. The lower ring includes fewer outer serrations than does the upper ring, to facilitate installation.
Abstract: A lock ring and fastener which is manufactured with the lock ring connected thereto by metal tabs or a metal strip of the same parent material as the fastener. It is intended to be installed in a threaded bore of a workpiece as an insert or stud.The lock ring is displaced and the metal tabs or strip is broken by a special installation tool. This tool flattens any rough edges that remain on the insert or stud after installation. The internal grooves of the lock ring engage the external teeth of the insert or stud. The external teeth of the lock ring bite into the workpiece and by coacting with the external teeth of the insert or stud assist in preventing rotation of the insert or stud in the workpiece.
