    Abstract: The present invention discloses a can, and provides an enclosure structure for cans with advantages of simple enclosure, low cost, safe and hygienic assurance and opening easiness, as well as a process for machining such an enclosure structure. The present invention solves technical problems in the prior art that pull-outward tabs are easy to break and hard to open while fold-inward tabs have poor safety and hygienic assurance. The enclosure structure of the present invention comprises a top cover of a can, an opening being provided on the top cover. An annular closed boss is provided on an outer edge of the opening; an enclosure covering plate is provided on the annular closed boss; a plastic film is provided on an upper end surface, corresponding to the enclosure covering plate, of the annular closed boss; and the enclosure covering plate is connected in a sealed manner to an upper port of the annular closed boss via the plastic film.

    Abstract: A metal container or component part of a metal container (e.g. a can end or sidewall of a can body) has an aperture defined by a cut edge about the periphery of the aperture, with a cover element sealed to the outward-facing surface of the can end so as to extend over and cover the aperture. A film of lacquer is directly applied (without the presence of an intermediate primer layer) to the inward-facing of the container/component part so as to coat the entirety of the cut edge and all or part of the inward-facing surfaces of both the can end and that part of the cover element located radially inward of the cut edge, thereby inhibiting corrosion of the cut edge. The invention is particularly suitable for can ends. The invention also relates to a method of making a can end to the invention.

    Abstract: The process of the present invention allows for the manufacture of lacquered aluminum or tin-plate rings which have the inner edge thereof bent over outwards so that they are suitable for the closures on cans for foodstuffs. A ring blank made of lacquered sheet is pre-shaped by deep drawing to form the curvature needed for bending over the inner cut edge. The final shaping of the pre-shaped blank into a ring for a can lid takes place, after stamping out the opening, by stretching and bending over the cut edge. When a tear-back membrane is sealed on to the bent-over edge, the ring is suitable as an easily opened closure for cans for foodstuffs.
