Patent number: 8499601Abstract: An effective thread number in the thread section which is disposed on the mouth section of the bottle is formed to be 2.2. That is, the thread section is formed such that the thread section 13 should serve effectively in the mouth section such that an interval between a start position and an end position should be 2.0 to 2.5. In the bottle can member 11 which has such a thread section, an outer diameter of the thread section which is formed on the mouth section is 28 to 38 mm. Also, the thickness of the mouth section is 0.25 to 0.4 mm. The thread section which has the effective thread number 2.0 to 2.5 is formed by eight-thread per inch pitch. By doing this, it is possible to put the cap desirably.Type: GrantFiled: May 18, 2012Date of Patent: August 6, 2013Assignee: Universal Can CorporationInventors: Tatsuya Hanafusa, Ryoichi Ito, Masahiro Hosoi, Naoki Tasaka

Patent number: 7069763Abstract: A method and apparatus for forming container ends includes tooling which forms dome members for can ends, which dome members include an open neck thereon. Thread lugs are formed as integral spaced apart shaped protrusions from the neck exterior. A system is also disclosed for forming quantities of a specific form of dome members, capable of later attachment to container bodies. A thin metal strip is fed through an array of progressive tooling to form blanks, from which such specific form of dome members are formed. The blanks are produced in the metal strip and connected thereto by multiple carrying strips which allow sufficient mobility of the blanks with respect to the strip to achieve precise alignment with the tooling at different stations in the progression. At the final station, completed dome members are separated from the remaining metal skeleton and moved rapidly out of the system, and the skeleton may be chopped up for recycling.Type: GrantFiled: August 28, 2003Date of Patent: July 4, 2006Assignee: Dayton Systems Group, Inc.Inventors: Stephen T. Patent number: 6206222Abstract: An easy-open, reseable closure assembly for a beverage can (10) comprises a metal lid (12) and two threadedly connected molded plastic closure elements (40, 60) with engageable annular reseal surfaces (46, 76). The lid is scored (30) to define a circular tear panel (28) and a hinge (32). The spout element (40) is attached to the lid (12) with the bottom surface of the cap element (60) directly above and aligned with the periphery of the tear panel (28). Rotation of the cap element (60) by a user ruptures the tear panel and pivots the tear panel (28) downward about the hinge (32), providing a passage through the spout element (40) for pouring and driking. Initial rupture and rupture propagation of the tear panel (28) is controlled by the spacing of the cap element (60) from the tear panel (28) and their configurations. When the cap element (60) is replaced on the spout (40), reseal surfaces (46, 76) engage.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2000Date of Patent: March 27, 2001Assignee: Ball CorporationInventor: Daniel F.
