Abstract: In a preferred embodiment, the web product manipulation device of the present invention is a finger having a constrained layer damping assembly coupled thereto. The constrained layer damping assembly preferably has a damping layer located between a constraining layer and an elongated body at least partially defining the finger. The damping layer preferably includes viscoelastic damping material, and the constraining layer is preferably a resilient element such as a strip of metal on the damping layer. The application of the constrained layer damping assembly to the finger dampens vibrations induced in the finger during operation. This reduces deflection in the end of the finger caused by vibration, thereby allowing the machine in which the finger is installed to be operated at higher speeds.

  • Patent number: 4529347
Abstract: A method and a device for controlling a silo unloader of the type comprising a first electrical motor for driving a gathering apparatus located on the top of the bulk material and a second electrical motor operating a winch to which is suspended the gathering apparatus for lifting, holding in position at the same level or lowering this gathering apparatus into the silo. The method comprises the steps of measuring the current supplied to the first motor and controlling the second motor for lifting, holding in position at the same level or lowering the gathering apparatus in accordance with the measured value of the current. The control device comprises a current detector and an accurate rectifying amplifier for generating a measure signal in relation with the current supplied to the first motor.

  • Patent number: 4443149
Abstract: An auger assembly for transporting seed, fertilizer or other particulate material. The assembly provides an auger within a stationary tube; the auger is mounted to allow free axial movement between adjustable limits. In the normal augering position, the auger extends beyond the tube into the particulate material. Should the particulate material become packed or jammed, preventing the auger from turning, the auger can be driven in reverse, causing it to unscrew itself up into the tube and allowing the auger to then take a fresh bite at the particulate material.

  • Patent number: 4289437
Abstract: A top unloading silo unloader pendently supported from a tripod with a cable connected to a motor operated winch. An automatic silo unloader let-down control system is operably connected to the winch motor to energize the motor once during each revolution of the unloader to lower the unloader in the silo. The let-down control system has a control switch mounted on the unloader which is actuated by the rotating part of the unloader once during each revolution of the part. An automatic time delay unit is adjustable to control the duration of operation of the winch motor thereby controlling the amount of let-down of the silo unloader.
