  • Patent number: 8360751
Abstract: A pump has a pump barrel formed from a larger diameter section and a smaller diameter section. Each section has a biased piston moveable within the section and the pistons are connected together to form a variable volume chamber between the pistons. As the connected pistons move toward the larger diameter section, a volume of fluid is moved through an inlet valve into the variable volume chamber of increasing volume. When the pistons are moved toward the smaller diameter section, a differential volume of fluid is discharged from the variable volume chamber of decreasing volume through a discharge valve into a discharge conduit. The pistons are actuated to move within the pump barrel by application and release of pressure at a remote end of the discharge conduit.

Abstract: An oilless air motor assembly and method useable for driving hydraulic pumps and the like. The air motor assembly comprises a slide valve that moved back and forth relative to a valve sleeve situated about the slide valve. A low friction or lubricious dry seal member is disposed between the slide valve and the valve sleeve, thereby eliminating the need for added oil or lubricant and additionally avoiding the need for precise machining and matching (e.g., honing and lapping) of the slide valve and valve sleeve. Also provided is a kit for converting a previously manufactured air motor assembly that requires oil or added lubricant to an oilless air motor assembly. Such kit comprises the slide valve, valve sleeve and dry seal member as well as other optional parts associated with those elements.

  • Patent number: 5634521
Abstract: In a new valve assembly, the coacting abutting surfaces are imperfect due to normal fabrication techniques, and leakage occurs across these surfaces, which allows the control valve assembly to operate for a limited time while the engine parts are new, but continual engagement of the confronting top end of the control valve and stop member eventually become worn and firmly seats the control valve against its stop, and thus leakage across the control valve and stop member is precluded due to this progressive wear, whereupon the engine control valve will remain seated against its respective stop member and operation of the pump assembly is terminated until the malfunction is corrected. Premature stoppage, or stalling, of the top end of the main valve of a hydraulically actuated engine for downhole pumps is overcome in the present apparatus, and this feature is useful in many prior art pump assemblies.

  • Patent number: 5592920
Abstract: A distributor-type fuel injection pump of the radial-plunger type with two intersecting cylinder bores in the rotor part, in each of which two pump plungers arranged opposite one another and delimiting a common pump working space are guided. The pump plungers guided in the first cylinder bore are here designed with an axial length such that, during their delivery stroke, they project into the second cylinder bore, the pump plungers of which do not reach the first cylinder bore even in the case of the maximum delivery stroke. According to the invention, the short pump plungers have a stop formed by a collar on their end projecting out of the cylinder bore, and this stop prevents the short pump plungers from slipping unintentionally in between the long pump plungers when the pump is switched off, thus allowing the delivery stroke of the pump plungers to be increased to an extent such that, during their suction stroke, the long pump plungers leave the cylinder bore guiding the short pump plungers.

  • Patent number: 5554011
Abstract: A vacuum powered pump includes a spring biased piston or diaphragm in a vacuum chamber coupled to a source of vacuum. When vacuum is applied to the vacuum chamber, the piston or diaphragm is moved in a first direction against the spring. A delayed action valve is coupled to the vacuum chamber to allow ambient air to enter the chamber only after the piston or diaphragm has been moved a substantial distance in the first direction. When the delayed action valve opens, air enters the vacuum chamber and the force of the entering air together with the bias of the spring propels the piston or diaphragm in a second direction opposite the first direction. The delayed action valve automatically closes and the process repeats so long as a vacuum source is coupled to the vacuum chamber. The reciprocal movement of the piston or diaphragm effects a pulsatile pumping of fluid through a fluid chamber having at least one check valve.

Abstract: A reverse osmosis system includes a reverse osmosis module with a reverse osmosis membrane and having an inlet port coupled to a source of feed water under predetermined pressure via a feed water inlet conduit, a product water outlet port for filtered outlet product water, and a flush water inlet port. A reciprocating pump is coupled into the feed water inlet conduit between the source of feed water and the inlet port of the module and is driven during both the pumping and return strokes solely by the feed water under pressure.
