Publication number: 20110171049Abstract: A downhole pump is operated by a non-electric motor preferably a steam turbine. In a steam assisted gravity drain system the producing well is U-shaped. A steam supply line runs into the turbine that drives the pump after the steam supply passes through a packer. The exhaust steam keeps the produced fluids warm and flowing. An injector well runs parallel and slightly above the horizontal portion of the U-shaped producing well.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 11, 2010Publication date: July 14, 2011Applicant: BAKER HUGHES INCORPORATEDInventor: Kelvin M. Patent number: 7815421Abstract: A pressure exchanger transferring pressure energy from a liquid in a first liquid system to a liquid in a second liquid system, having a housing with inlet and outlet connection openings for each liquid and a rotor arranged in the housing for rotation about a longitudinal axis. Through rotor channels are arranged around the rotor longitudinal axis with openings on each axial end face of the rotor. The rotor channels are arranged for connection through opposing flow openings facing the housing to the connection openings of the housing. During rotor rotation high pressure liquid and low pressure liquid are alternately introduced into the respective systems. Liquid flowing to the rotor through the openings generates a circumferential force (cu) for driving the rotor, and starting at or following the openings a flow guiding configuration formed as a rotor channel flow diverting contour is arranged in the rotor channels.Type: GrantFiled: February 7, 2007Date of Patent: October 19, 2010Assignee: KSB AktiengesellschaftInventors: Stephan Bross, Wolfgang Kochanowski

Publication number: 20100236230Abstract: Power installations versions are proposed for conversion of airflow energy by a turbine and pump into compressed air energy used by a pneumo-motor or/and by an electro-generator associated with a control system. One installation comprises turbine units arranged in box-sections serving as walls and roof of a truck. The turbine unit includes X-shaped members supporting a shaft with a turbine driven by resistance airflow appearing during the movement of truck. The rotation of turbine is conveyed to a pump, charging a tank with compressed air, used for driving the truck. Another installation additionally includes a conventional engine driving one pair of wheels, while the pneumo-motor drives the other pair. A stationary installation includes a shutter coupled with a vane configured for creation of an unevenly distributed airflow applied to the turbine, a gear, a pump charging a tank with compressed air, a brake mechanism for regulation of the turbine's speed.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 17, 2009Publication date: September 23, 2010Inventor: Vasyl Khymych

Publication number: 20100215521Abstract: A rotary air motor driven hydraulic pump has separate pressure and return actuators and first and second stage eccentric driven pistons 180 degrees out of phase and driven by the motor through a gear reduction unit. The pressure and return actuators are on/off/proportional valves and the pump has two pressure relief valves with one adjustable from outside of the pump for a user to set a pressure limit of the pump. Above a certain output pressure limit, a bypass valve shunts flow in excess of that needed to precharge the second stage compression chamber from the first stage piston to an elastic reservoir from which the hydraulic fluid pumped by the pump is drawn. To make the pump stall at a certain output pressure, a pressure limiting valve can be used that cuts off the air supply to the pump at the desired output pressure.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 21, 2007Publication date: August 26, 2010Inventors: Bruce E. Patent number: 7757502Abstract: An environmental control system includes a RAM air fan system downstream of a respective heat exchanger in the relatively high temperature RAM exhaust. The RAM air fan includes a RAM air fan electric motor such that the RAM air fan is driven at a speed independent of an air cycle machine. A fan rotor is completely supported by hydrodynamic foil journal and thrust bearings. As the RAM air fan is driven by the RAM air fan electric motor the RAM air fan is installed in the environmental control system as a self-contained system.Type: GrantFiled: April 12, 2005Date of Patent: July 20, 2010Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand CorporationInventors: Brent Merritt, Christopher McAuliffe
