  • Patent number: 6854957
Abstract: A seal of a vertical pump with a front casing disposed on a main casing which has a motor disposed therein. A volute chamber is disposed inside the front casing to receive a centrifugal impeller. A suction inlet is disposed axially on the front casing opposite the motor. A water outlet is disposed thereon opposite the lateral side of the impeller to engage with a discharge pipe. The suction inlet and outlet are in communication with a volute chamber. The pump has a non-contact seal disposed on the impeller. The seal can jam when a liquid crystallizes. Therefore, if no heat is generated due to the friction of the seal, the pump operates better. Furthermore, it prevents a back impeller vane from stirring the air and ejecting the liquid with a lot of air bubbles when the pump operates. Therefore, it eliminates the air bubbles from causing problems during the manufacturing process of a printed circuit board.

Abstract: A pumping assembly for use on an offshore drilling platform. The pumping assembly includes a vertical pump designed for mounting on the deck of an offshore drilling platform. The pump is a vertical pump that includes a fluid intake, a fluid discharge, a rotatable shaft, and a fluid driving mechanism to draw fluid into the fluid intake and to discharge fluid through the fluid discharge. A seal is mounted about the rotatable shaft to prevent leaking of the pumped fluid along the rotatable shaft. Additionally, a power source is coupled to the rotatable shaft to power the vertical pump. The fluid discharge is oriented to discharge fluid in a direction generally axially aligned with the rotatable axis to limit transverse forces on the seal.

Abstract: A pump for coating molten metal onto a substrate includes a base with an impeller chamber, at least one molten metal inlet opening to the base, at least one molten metal outlet opening from the base, and an impeller connected to one end of a motor driven shaft and rotatable in the impeller chamber, the base, shaft and impeller being made of refractory material. A conduit is in communication with the molten metal discharged from the molten metal outlet opening. The conduit is formed of refractory material and comprises an arcuate shaped portion in which molten metal outlet openings are disposed. An insulating region is located between the conduit and a motor support. The conduit has a shape and the conduit outlet openings are configured and arranged to discharge molten metal toward an interior of the conduit in upward and downward directions such that exterior surfaces of a workpiece passed therein are coated with molten metal.

  • Patent number: 6179558
Abstract: A filtering pump assembly for pumping and filtering a fluid includes a pump subassembly and a filter subassembly. The pump subassembly has an inlet portion with a first cross-sectional shape. The preferred cross-sectional shape of the inlet portion is circular. The filter subassembly includes a foraminous cage member, having an opening formed therein of a shape corresponding to the first cross-sectional shape of the inlet portion and being configured to fit engagably thereon. The filter subassembly also includes a filter element formed of a porous material for placement in covering relation to the cage member. The preferred filter element is either bag-shaped or formed as a cylindrical sleeve. Preferably, the filter assembly includes a retainer for retaining the filter element in covering relation to the cage member. The retainer may be an annular spring clip having two ends which overlap one another, and having a finger grip formed at each end thereof.
