  • Patent number: 7950913
Abstract: In a seal system for a scroll type fluid machine, a seal mechanism is provided between a backpressure plate and a holder, so as to surround an orbiting backpressure chamber. The seal member comprises a seal attachment groove, a seal member and a Y-shaped packing. The seal attachment groove is stepped on its outer circumference to define a shallow bottom portion. The seal member includes, on its outer circumference side, a cutout portion matching the shallow bottom portion. The Y-shaped packing is disposed between a deep groove peripheral wall of the seal attachment groove and the cutout portion of the seal member, and a backpressure chamber is defined on a reverse surface side of the seal member. By this arrangement, a slide surface of the seal member can be larger than an effective area of the backpressure side of the seal member. Thereby it is possible to reduce a difference between a load Ff acting on the slide surface and a load Fb acting on the reverse surface.

Abstract: A vane pump with a reduced rotor diameter is provided. The reduced rotor diameter allows a reduction in the overall size of the pump which allows the pump to be used in circumstances wherein sufficient packaging volume does not exist for conventional vane pumps. Further, the reduced rotor diameter permits operation of the pump at a higher speed, in comparison to conventional vane pumps, for a given working fluid and pump rate. The rotor includes an integrally formed drive shaft and a cylindrical rotor head. Both fixed displacment and variable displacement embodiments are shown.

  • Patent number: 7491043
Abstract: Vane pump (10) mechanical losses are reduced by removing vane friction losses and replacing them with lower magnitude journal bearing fluid film viscous drag losses. A freely rotating cam ring (70) is supported by a journal bearing (80). A relatively low sliding velocity is imposed between the cam ring and the vanes (26). This permits the use of less expensive and less brittle materials in the pump by allowing the pump to operate at much higher speeds without concern for exceeding vane tip velocity limits.

Abstract: A seal ring for improving the performance of a gear pump, primarily for vehicle transmissions, comprises the milling of a circular ring on at least one lateral face of an inner gear and an outer gear in a gear pump and inserting a friction reducing ring within the milled circular ring. The addition of this ring, especially on remanufactured gear pumps, will reduce the amount of transmission fluid leaking between the gears and the gear pump housing and also reduce the friction between the gears and the gear housing, thus providing more fluid to the transmission and also increasing the pressure while decreasing the amount of heat of the transmission fluid being circulated through the gear pump.
