Abstract: A lubrication path (50) to press-contact surfaces of a fixed and orbiting scrolls (21, 22) serves also as a high-level pressure introduction passageway when a difference between a high-level pressure and a low-level pressure is great. On the other hand, when the high-level pressure introduction passageway is blocked off in a state in which the high-low pressure difference is small, refrigerating machine oil is supplied to the press-contact surfaces through a low-level pressure space (S1) within the casing, for controlling the pressing force of the orbiting scroll (22) against the fixed scroll (21), and the construction for preventing a decrease in efficiency is simplified, thereby not only reducing the cost but also preventing the occurrence of a maloperation.

Abstract: A scroll compressor includes a fixed scroll member fixed to a housing and a movable scroll member engaging the fixed scroll member. Each scroll member has a base plate and a spiral wall. A compression chamber between the fixed and movable scroll members reduces in volume by orbiting the movable scroll member, thus compressing gas. A back pressure chamber is defined in the housing on a back surface side of the movable scroll base plate between the movable scroll member and the a fixed wall of the housing. An introducing passage interconnects the back pressure chamber and a relatively high pressure region. A seal member on one of the movable scroll member and the fixed wall seals the back pressure chamber as being slidable on the other. The seal member includes a portion for lowering sealing performance, which interconnects the back pressure chamber and a relatively low pressure region.

An elastic member is formed in an annular and planar shape and is fixed in the housing on a side of a back surface of the movable base plate so as to slidably contact the back surface of the movable base plate of the movable scroll member at a sliding region of the elastic member. A facing wall is provided on a side opposite to a side of the movable scroll member with respect to the elastic member. In a further embodiment, the apparatus includes an orbital scroll having two portions, a supporting portion surrounding an eccentric bearing having a lower coefficient of thermal expansion than that of a scroll portion, to reduce thermal expansion of the supporting portion, reducing misaligmnent of the eccentric orbital scroll on the bearing.

Abstract: A radial compliance scroll compressor is provided where two scrolls having involute wraps are engaged with each other, the orbiting scroll of the two scrolls having a boss portion eccentrically coupled to a driving pin portion formed on the front end surface of a crank shaft undergoes an orbital motion to thus form a plurality of compression chambers whose positions are continually moved between the two wraps, and the orbiting scroll coupled to the crank shaft goes backward in a radial direction within a predetermined range to thus isolate the wraps of the two scrolls from each other and then return to the normal state, thereby forming a compression chamber, which is characterized in that: an eccentric bush is inserted between the outer circumferential surface of the driving pin portion of the crank shaft and the inner circumferential surface of the boss portion of the orbiting scroll coupled thereto to be rotatably and eccentrically coupled to the crank shaft; a stopper pin restricting the radius movement of

Abstract: A scroll compressor has a fixed scroll member, a movable scroll member, a housing. The housing is secured to the fixed scroll member. The housing accommodates the movable scroll member to define a back pressure chamber. Pressure in the back pressure chamber is applied to the back surface of a movable scroll base plate of the movable scroll member. The back pressure chamber communicates with a region through a communication passage. The region is lower in pressure than the back pressure chamber. The communication passage relieves the pressure in the back pressure chamber to the region. The communication passage includes a valve. The valve varies an opening amount of the communication passage due to difference between the pressure in the compression region in the predetermined period of a compression process of the gas, and the pressure in the back pressure chamber.
