  • Patent number: 11920881
Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and techniques for identifying gun events. A gun event may include a nominal event, such as the discharging of a projectile or the ejecting of a cartridge shell, or an anomalous event, such as a misfire or a failure to feed. An apparatus may include a sensor that measures motion of a gun along multiple axes. The apparatus may identify a gun event based on the measured motion of the gun satisfying a motion condition. The motion condition may include an acceleration threshold value, and the measured motion of the gun may satisfy the motion condition based on a measured acceleration value exceeding the threshold acceleration value. The apparatus may transmit an electrical signal based on the measured motion of the gun satisfying the motion condition. The electrical signal may reset a charging circuit, increment a shot count, or decrement a round count.

  • Patent number: 11859935
Abstract: A linear encoder may be used to accurately determine a number of cartridges within a magazine. Further, using a set of magnetic sensors within a buffer tube of a firearm, it is possible to determine whether a cartridge is loaded within a chamber of the weapon and/or whether the firearm is jammed. The determination of cartridges within the magazine in conjunction with the determination of whether a cartridge is in a chamber of a firearm can give a user an accurate ammunition count. Further, the use of the linear encoder makes it possible to accurately determine the cartridge count when different cartridges are loaded into the magazine or when the magazine degrades in quality over time. Moreover, the ability for magazines to communicate with a firearm enables a user to determine a total available ammunition to the user in a single display without individually checking each magazine.

  • Patent number: 8109023
Abstract: A shot counter includes a firearm with a loaded chamber indicator and a striker status indicator. A first switch operates with the loaded chamber indicator and a second switch operates with the striker status indicator. When the loaded chamber indicator moves it activates the first switch and when the striker status indicator moves it activates the second switch. If one of the first and second switches is activated, an electrical signal is sent to a processor and the processor interprets the electrical signal as an indication that a shot has been fired. If the electrical signal is from the first switch, the processor actually counts a number of cartridges going in and out of a chamber of the firearm, and if the electrical signal is from the second switch, the processor actually counts a number of times the firearm was cocked.
