    Abstract: The present low pressure bolt carrier group is configured to maximize the axial force component, and minimize the radial force component, applied to both the bolt carrier and the bolt under low-pressure gas conditions, so that the two separate with greater acceleration and under greater force than a standard bolt carrier group when firing low-pressure ammunition. Thus, the present low-pressure bolt carrier group effectively and completely ejects the spent case and chambers the next round. These and other benefits are provided by the present low-pressure bolt carrier group comprising one or more of an increased piston bore diameter, an increased piston diameter, an increased flatness of the piston surface in the radial plane, and an increased stroke length of the piston by lengthening the cam pin slot. Therefore, the present low-pressure bolt carrier group solves long-persisting problems with standard bolt carrier groups when using low-pressure rounds.

    Abstract: A shell loading system for a firearm in one embodiment includes a barrel, receiver, reciprocating slide and bolt assembly, tubular magazine, tilting carrier operable to receive and feed shells from the magazine into the action, a spring-biased carrier latch laterally moveable to engage the carrier, and a pawl pivotably mounted on the carrier. A carrier latch disconnect is movable between an unblocking and blocking position that prevents engagement of the carrier latch with carrier. To prevent bouncing of the carrier after firing a shot, a first detent feature on carrier assembly automatically engages a second detent feature in the receiver as the carrier returns downward from an upward position when the action is cycled by discharging the firearm. The detent features automatically disengage when the slide moves rearward to permit normal operation of the carrier when cycling the action.

The barrel is fixed motionless on the frame of the weapon. A jet nozzle concentrically couples around the barrel and integrates with a bolt frame. The jet nozzle has inner and outer jet sidewalls and a jet nozzle edge. The inner jet sidewall and outer barrel sidewall form a gas space that is in communication with the bolt frame. Discharge of firearm forces high velocity gas through gas vents that form in the barrel, through gas space, and finally against the jet nozzle edge. This forces bolt frame rearwardly.

In this invention, the trip mechanism consists of a trigger, a tripper, which is in contact with the trigger and a trip, which is attached to the tripper and is designed to pivot when firing the firearm. An adjustment pin is provided to set the tension on the trigger and tripper so that a minimum force is required to hold the assembly in the cocked position, ready for firing. The length and shape of the tripper as well as the encasement body are all designed based on the type of firearm that the action is installed. This is to allow the trip to fit against the firing pin as a sear would. The encasement must also be designed to fit into the existing structure of the firearm.
