Abstract: This invention provides a zinc-based alloy shot having a new formation and it also provides a method of manufacturing it. The zinc-based alloy shot has Cu added, and it is likely to have a relatively high hardness, and it is less likely to corrode (reduce color change) when it functions as a shot. The zinc-based alloy shot of the present invention comprises Cu as the main additive element for increasing the Vickers hardness, etc., and Fe as a co-additive element for increasing the Vickers hardness and for preventing corrosion. It gives a Vickers hardness of 40-150 HV. The chemical composition of the zinc-based alloy shot is usually Cu: 0.1˜13.0%; Fe: 0.0025˜0.25%; Zn: balance; and 1?Cu/Fe (measured in mass)?1000.
Abstract: To provide a production process of an electrode catalyst for fuel cell whose initial voltage is high and whose endurance characteristics, especially, whose voltage drop being caused by high-potential application is less. A production process according to the present invention of an electrode catalyst for fuel cell is characterized in that: it includes: a dispersing step of dispersing a conductive support in a solution; a loading step of dropping a platinum-salt solution, a base-metal-salt solution and an iridium-salt solution to the resulting dispersion liquid, thereby loading respective metallic salts on the conductive support as hydroxides under an alkaline condition; and an alloying step of heating the conductive support with metallic hydroxides loaded in a reducing atmosphere to reduce them, thereby alloying them.
Abstract: An alloy formed by rapid solidification comprising Al, 1 to 7 wt % Cr and up to 6 wt % X where X is selected from refractory metals Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, and W, has improved thermal stability.

Abstract: An exchangeable, wettable solid cathode for a fused salt electrolytic cell for the production of aluminum is made out of at least one aluminide of the groups IV A, V A or VI A of the periodic system of elements. A titanium aluminide of the .gamma.-phase has been shown to be particularly favorable for this purpose.
