Using Aldehyde Patents (Class 422/36)
  • Patent number: 4277238
Abstract: An artificial bonelike graft is disclosed. The graft of this invention comprises a biological material such as a bone piece and tooth taken from an animal or a human, which material is decalcified and defatted. Upon implanting the graft, it will be assimilated with the existing tissues and become a part of the living organs. A method for producing such grafts is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 4229410
Abstract: A toilet element having bacteriostatic and/or deodorizing and/or coloring components contained within a water soluble, water sensitive or water swellable resinous article. The element is made functional by merely contacting it with water to thereby release a determined amount of the active agents in the environment until all or part of the element is dissolved in the water.

  • Patent number: 4229408
Abstract: A method and composition for controlling odor emission from toilet holding tanks for prolonged intervals of at least 48 hours consisting essentially of adding to the toilet holding tank an effective amount of an additive composition consisting essentially of a quaternary compound selected from the class consisting of alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride and alkyl diethyl benzyl ammonium chloride where the alkyl group contains 12-18 carbon atoms, inclusive; formaldehyde; and an acid buffer sufficient to buffer the composition in the toilet system to a pH in the range of 4-5. The effective amount is that which is sufficient to maintain a concentration of at least 100 parts per million of the additive composition throughout the prolonged interval.

  • Patent number: 4228124
Abstract: A mixture of an active ingredient such as insecticide, fungicide, repellent or the like and a blowing agent is heated with a hot air current produced by a suitable heat source and a fan to thermally decompose the blowing agent and cause the hot air current and the gas resulting from the thermal decomposition to vaporize and diffuse the active ingredient. The mixture is accommodated within a passage formed in a container and the passage is provided therein with a fan for forcing the hot air current therethrough. A fumigating method and an apparatus of this invention ensure very efficient, quick and uniform diffusion of the vapor of the active ingredients and are usable for controlling vermin and other purposes with high safety and great convenience.

  • Patent number: 4207286
Abstract: A method to sterilize the surfaces of objects placed in a continuous flow of a low temperature, low pressure gas plasma, containing small amounts of aromatic, heterocyclic and saturated or unsaturated acyclic aldehydes alone or mixtures thereof. Said gas plasma is a partially ionized gas composed of ions, electrons and neutral species. It is created by electromagnetic discharges at subatmospheric pressure in the 1 to 10,000 Megahertz range, and corresponds to a minimum average spatial energy density of 0.001 watts per cubic centimeter. The gas plasma may also contain other vaporized cidal agents. Contrary to most sterilant gases, the method is safe, allows quick handling of heat sensitive items, does not corrode equipment and does not leave toxic residues.

  • Patent number: 4171340
Abstract: A mixture of an active ingredient such as insecticide, fungicide, antiseptic or the like and a blowing agent is heated indirectly with a heat evolved by contacting an exothermic substance with water to decompose the blowing agent and to volatilize the active agent. The mixture is accommodated in at least one compartment of a container while the exothermic substance is accommodated in at least one further compartment provided with water supplying means, said compartments being separated from each other by a partition which provides a heat transferring surface.

  • Patent number: 4158034
Abstract: A method and apparatus for sterilization of a dialysis system. The dialysis system comprises a dialyzer, a receptacle for water and a receptacle for dialysis concentrate, and fluid conducting means for conducting fluids from the receptacles for water and dialysis concentrate to and through the dialyzer. The method includes the steps of terminating the conducting of dialysis concentrate through the fluid conducting means, introducing sterilizing agent into the fluid conducting means at a first point in the fluid conducting means, conducting the sterilizing agent through the fluid conducting means downstream of the first point, and directing a portion of the sterilizing agent from a second point in the fluid conducting means to a third point in the fluid conducting means, the second point being downstream of the first point and the third point being upstream of the first point.
