Utilizing Metal Cyanide As Reactant Patents (Class 423/377)
  • Patent number: 10562782
Abstract: Process for making purified hydrogen cyanide. The process includes feeding a reaction product including HCN, water, and organonitriles to a separation vessel; taking a liquid slip stream of HCN, water and organonitriles from the separation vessel; and feeding the liquid slipstream into a sidestream stripper to purge nitriles from the HCN reaction product.

  • Patent number: 7850939
Abstract: Process for preparing hydrocyanic acid, which comprises catalytic dehydration of gaseous formamide to give a product mixture comprising hydrocyanic acid, water, formamide, ammonia, CO and high boilers, separation of the product mixture by condensation of a condensate comprising water, formamide, high boilers and possibly ammonia and hydrocyanic acid from the product mixture obtained and partial or total recirculation of the condensate into a heat exchanger located downstream of the reactor.

  • Patent number: 5482694
Abstract: Provided is a method for regenerating cyanide from thiocyanate. The method comprises contacting the thiocyanate with an oxidizing gas containing ozone, generally a mixture of oxygen and ozone. The pH of the contacting medium is generally less than 7.0 to assure that HCN is the predominant species relative to CN.sup.-. The method has important applications to processes involving cyanidation procedures, such as gold leaching, plating and coal conversion.

  • Patent number: 5141725
Abstract: A process is provided for selectively separating oxygen from an oxygen-containing fluid stream by bringing said fluid stream into contact with a high capacity solid state cyanocobaltate complex in a non-aluminosilicate environment represented by the chemical formula:A.sub.x/z.sup.z+ [Co(CN).sub.n ].sup.x- .multidot.pSwhere:A is an alkali, alkaline earth, transition, or Group 12 metal atom;z is 1, 2 or 3;n is any number from 3 to 5;x is n-2;p is any number from greater than zero to 6; andS is a ligand which is capable of coordinating with A.sup.z+, Co or both. These complexes chemically bind oxygen to form novel oxygen adducts, thereby selectively removing oxygen from the fluid stream. The bound oxygen may be recovered by increasing the temperature or by reducing the partial pressure of O.sub.2 above the adduct.
