Oxygen Or Chlorine Releasing Compound Containing Patents (Class 424/53)
  • Patent number: 11219582
Abstract: The present invention is a formable dental treatment tray utilizing poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) and a gelatinous active. Blending of the active is accomplished by mixing the Poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) with an active ingredient, such as a peroxide like hydrogen peroxide, carbamide peroxide, sodium perborate, or sodium percarbonate, usually also with water or an appropriate organic solvent. Peroxide concentrations in these new gels can reach a 30% concentration of hydrogen peroxide while maintaining a shelf life of six months at room temperature without developing peroxide decomposition. The gels are applied to an appropriate backing and dried to a gelatinous state. In use, the active is hydrated and regains adhesiveness. Then the tray is pressed and formed around a user's dental arch to form the customizable tray. Multiple active ingredients may be used, with or without peroxide, for accomplishing desired treatment regimens.

  • Patent number: 10912717
Abstract: A tooth whitening method uses an application device having a reservoir containing an oxidizing composition comprising a fluid carrier and an oxidizing agent, an applicator member in fluid communication with the reservoir, and a dispensing mechanism for moving contents of the reservoir into the applicator member. The oxidizing composition is dispensed into the applicator member by actuating the dispensing mechanism and is applied to one or more teeth in an oral cavity. Then, a sealant composition is applied to the teeth having the oxidizing agent thereon to form a coating that resists moisture contamination of the previously applied oxidizing agent. One embodiment uses an oxidizing composition with a viscosity less than 150 cps that is absorbed in a porous material in the device reservoir, from which it is introduced by capillary action into a porous applicator member.

Abstract: Reactive compositions are provided, having biocidal and chemical decontamination/neutralization properties, comprising a hygroscopic polymer and an active, which are useful in a variety of commercial, healthcare and military applications and a wide variety of contaminants, including without limitation chemical and biological warfare agents. The reactive compositions are renewable or rechargeable after use by exposure to an additional application of the active and do not require removal, disposal or replacement of the originally applied composition. Methods for preparing and applying the reactive compositions are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 10010568
Abstract: A method and system of reducing the likelihood of an inflammatory disease developing by providing a mucosal adhesive strip to a subject, with the strip provided with at least one of a plurality of agents effective to hinder the growth of spirochetes bacteria in a subject's oral cavity. In certain embodiments, an effective amount of Prevotella intermedia is provided to decrease the incidence of periodontitis and to reduce the progression of Alzheimer's disease. In still other embodiments, the likelihood that a subject will suffer from Alzheimer's disease is reduced by administering via local gingival application to a subject that has been diagnosed with periodontitis an effective amount of an antibiotic effective to kill spirochetes bacteria residing on the subgingival tooth area of the subject.

  • Patent number: 9877911
Abstract: The invention provides a non-aqueous oral care composition with a liquid continuous phase comprising a thickening agent, a humectant, and one or more liquid polyethylene glycols having a melting point below 25° C., in which the liquid continuous phase is structured with crystals of one or more solid polyethylene glycols having a melting point of 25° C. or above. The rheological behavior of the composition of the invention corresponds well with the characteristic rheological behavior of typical aqueous dentifrice formulations.

  • Patent number: 9827174
Abstract: A formulation starts as a gel and transforms into a foam under influence of light and heat to expand out into the oral cavity of a user for advantageous health benefits. A closed system mouthpiece includes light and heat generation to activate the formulation to increase its volume. Application of heat above a threshold temperature causes the gel to transform into foam and expand out of the mouthpiece and into the oral cavity. With the foam so dispersed within the oral cavity, activation of a light source embedded within the mouthpiece enhances the bacteria killing properties of the now foam material. The foam spreads onto the tongue of the user as well and acts to kill any damaging bacteria found there. As a result, the pH balance of the mouth is restored to a neutral level in the range of 6.75 to 7.25 or maintained at that pH level.
