Patent number: 8586012Abstract: A body wash composition includes sunscreen or UV screen materials. The body wash composition is formulated so that it may be applied during normal hygiene activities, such as washing. However, the composition applies an effective level of sunscreen or UV screen material to the body such that the sunscreen or UV screen continues to provide effective solar protection even after rinsing or washing of the human body. Further, the material is a non-greasy, easy to apply material that may be used during showering activities in a manner similar to using a bar soap or cleanser. The composition includes a variety of materials that assist in the processing and storage of the body wash. Effective amounts of solar protective material include octyl methoxycinnamate, octyl salicylate, and titanium dioxide. Testing shows that the product provides a solar protective level of at least approximately 14 even after multiple rinsings. Further embodiments have achieved a solar protective level of at least approximately 17.Type: GrantFiled: October 5, 2010Date of Patent: November 19, 2013Assignee: Solise LLCInventors: Michael Phillip Doyle, Royce Dale Lillard, II, Royce Dale Lillard, III, Richard J. Patent number: 8221734Abstract: Non-pressurized shaving compositions are described that provide a warm/hot sensation during use as the result of an exothermic redox reaction. The compositions are post-foaming via nascent gas release in situ due to the generation of carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide induced foam is maintained for several minutes after the compositions are dispensed, whereby the compositions are capable of providing both a warm sensation and sustained lather, a balance which heretofore has been a significant challenge.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2009Date of Patent: July 17, 2012Assignee: The Procter & Gamble CompanyInventors: Alexander Novikov, Uday Marutirao Patil, Robert John Willicut

Publication number: 20120164086Abstract: The present invention provides a production method that can easily produce an O/W emulsion composition without using a special cooling apparatus and be economical. The production method of an O/W emulsion composition comprising: emulsifying, at 70° C. or higher, an oil phase with a portion of a water phase to prepare an emulsified part, wherein the oil phase comprises (A) a nonionic surfactant, (B) a linear higher alcohol that has 16 or more carbon atoms and can form an ?-gel in water with the nonionic surfactant, and (C) an oil component, and the water phase comprises (D) water; mixing the remaining main water phase at 10 to 35° C. with the emulsified part while being stirred, to cool the emulsified part with continuous stirring to the lower temperature limit, or lower, of a temperature range wherein the oil phase forms an ?-gel in the water phase; and then stopping the stirring.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 2, 2010Publication date: June 28, 2012Applicant: SHISEIDO COMPANY, LTD.Inventors: Hidefumi Araki, Reiji Miyahara

Patent number: 8173112Abstract: An emulsified composition for hair, which contains a nonionic surfactant that is a solid at normal temperature and has a Krafft point of at least 40° C., an oil component, and water, and which has an average emulsified particle size of 0.5 ?m or less, provides long-lasting luster. Further, an emulsified composition for hair, which is an water-in-oil emulsified composition and which contains the following two types of oil phase as the oil phase, improves the feel of hair immediately after use: 1) an oil phase with an average particle size of 0.5 ?m or less, formed with a nonionic surfactant that is a solid at normal temperature and has a Krafft point of at least 40° C., and 2) an oil phase with an average particle size of 0.5 to 100 ?m, formed with a surfactant and/or an alkyl-modified carboxyvinyl polymer.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2004Date of Patent: May 8, 2012Assignee: Shiseido Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akira Ishikubo, Tomoyuki Kawasoe, Shunsuke Takeda

Patent number: 8147815Abstract: A topical administration carrier composition including water, glycerin and polysorbate, suitable for use with compositions containing active ingredients such as minoxidil that are susceptible to volatilization and transdermal penetration in application to the body. The carrier formulation retards the evaporative and systemic migration losses of the active ingredient composition, to provide sustained topical action, in relation to formulations lacking the components of the inventive composition.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 2005Date of Patent: April 3, 2012Assignee: Celmatrix CorporationInventor: Shane Malek

Publication number: 20120045409Abstract: Volumizing compositions, including shampoos, which provide volume, body, fullness, movement and/or stylability benefits to the hair are disclosed. The compositions contain a waxy material selected from natural waxes of animal or plant origin, alkyl-modified dimethicones, copolymers of vinyl pyrrolidone and long chain alpha-olefins, synthetic wax/highly branched polyalpha olefin polymers and mixtures thereof. The compositions are substantially free of materials which form an oily coating on the hair, such as dimethicone gums, oils, triglycerides, petrolatums, unsaturated fatty acids, oils, C18-C28 mono-long chain alkyl quaternary ammonium materials, and combinations of those materials. Shampoo compositions and the method of providing volume to the hair, utilizing the defined waxy materials, are also disclosed.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 10, 2011Publication date: February 23, 2012Applicant: Kao CorporationInventor: Adam Patrick Schrott

Patent number: 8119111Abstract: A topical administration carrier composition including water, glycerin and polysorbate, suitable for use in formulations with active ingredient compositions containing active ingredients such as minoxidil that are susceptible to systemic penetration, and solvents that are susceptible to evaporative loss, when the active ingredient composition is topically applied to the body. The carrier formulation retards the evaporative losses of the solvent component(s) and systemic migration losses of the active ingredient composition, to provide sustained topical action, in relation to formulations lacking the carrier composition of the invention.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2010Date of Patent: February 21, 2012Assignee: Celmatrix CorporationInventor: Shane Malek
