The antibiotic is blended with a carrier suitable for topical application to dermal tissues. The carrier is selected from the group consisting of an aqueous liquid, an alcohol base, a water soluble gel, a lotion, an ointment, a nonaqueous liquid base, a mineral oil base, a blend of mineral oil and petrolatum, liposomes, a time-release patch, and a liquid-absorbed wipe. The cephalosporin can also be combined with benzoyl peroxide in a gel carrier.
Abstract: Fatty acid sanitizer concentrates and diluted final solutions are provided which include individual amounts of germicidally effective fatty acid, hydrotrope, strong acid selected from the group consisting of phosphoric and sulphuric acid sufficient to lower the pH of the final solutions to about 1-5, and a concentrate stabilizing weak acid component selected from the group consisting of propionic, butyric and valeric acids and mixtures thereof. The concentrate stabilizing component enhances the room and low temperature phase stability of the concentrates, even when used at very low levels typically ranging from 3.5%-15% by weight. Preferably, the fatty acid is a mixture of nonanoic and decanoic acids, whereas the strong acid is selected from the group consisting of orthophosphoric, sulfuric and mixtures thereof. Alternately, stable concentrates and use dilutions can be provided using undecylenic acid, either alone or in combination with other fatty acids.

Abstract: Oligomeric thiocarbonates such as hexathiodicarbonate salts and thioesters are used as pesticides and preservatives. Certain oligomeric thiocarbonate salts, notably quaternary ammonium hexathiodicarbonates, are prepared. The compounds are stabilized with added base and/or sulfide.
Abstract: Aqueous thiocarbonate solutions are stabilized by the addition of base, sulfide and/or polysulfide, and the stability and safety of the more concentrated solutions containing 1 weight percent or more equivalent CS.sub.2 as a thiocarbonate are achieved as reflected by significant reduction of CS.sub.2 partial pressure in such solutions. Also, deposit formation in irrigation systems delivering such thiocarbonates, such as drip emitters and sprinkler heads, is reduced or eliminated with minor amounts of sodium hexametaphosphate.
Abstract: Ferritin analogs comprising an apoferritin protein shell and a core substantially devoid of ferrihydrite, e.g. of inorganic composition such as aluminum hydroxide or organic composition such as acetaminophen. The protein shell can be removed from ferritin analog to produce spherules having a substantially monomodal nominal diameter between about 45 and 90 Angstroms.
Abstract: Cellulosic particles, for example wood particles, stored in a pile are preserved by contacting the particles with a thiocarbonate composition.
