In one embodiment a formulation contains a mixture of ellagic acid, vitamin D3, beta 1,3 glucan and a ferment of the bacterium, Lactobacillus fermentum, with an extract of green tea, extract of goji berries, and extract of the root of astragalus added prior to fermentation. Said formulation, originally developed as an antioxidant/immune stimulator was found to have the unexpected property of eliciting stem/progenitor cell mobilization.
