Abstract: The present invention provides methods of extracting antioxidant compositions from olive-based starting materials, including olives, olive pulps, olive oil, and wastewater from olive oil manufacturing. One method includes the steps of extracting the olives, olive pulp or olive oil with a polar aqueous solvent to form an aqueous phase containing antioxidant components, passing the aqueous phase through a solid matrix to trap the antioxidant components on the matrix, and washing the matrix with a polar organic solvent to yield a solution of the antioxidant composition in the polar organic solvent. Another method includes the steps passing the wastewater from olive oil production containing antioxidant components through a solid matrix to trap the antioxidant components on the matrix, and washing the matrix with a polar organic solvent to yield a solution of the antioxidant composition in the polar organic solvent.
Abstract: A composition for inhibiting oral bacteria, including a polyphenol derivative composition; and at least one composition selected from the group consisting of mogroside derivative composition, licorice extract and combinations thereof, wherein the composition is effective to inhibit growth of oral microbials.
Abstract: Antioxidant compositions for protecting food and cosmetic products from oxidation are isolated from olives by grinding olives to obtain ground olive material which then is dried and then the dried material is pressed which provides for recovering and obtaining, from the pressing, a lipid composition separate from a pressed olive cake, the lipid composition containing lipid-soluble and water-soluble antioxidants. Additionally, further treatment of the cake material by combining a medium chain triglyceride, glycol, or a C2-C6 alkyleneglycol with the cake material and then pressing under a pressure of at least 40 bar provides for recovering and obtaining water-soluble antioxidants from the cake material.

Abstract: Prophylactic or therapeutic agents for respiratory diseases, allergic diseases, keratosis, and carcinomatous pain, containing Smilax china or a plant analogous thereto as the active ingredient. These agents can improve the condition and predisposition of acute and chronic respiratory diseases, such as acute bronchitis, bronchial asthma, asthmatic bronchitis, chronic bronchitis, pan bronchiolitis and bronchiectasis, allergic diseases, such as atopic dermatitis, pollinosis, allergic rhinitis and allergic conjunctivitis, and keratosis, such as psoriasis, lichen, ichthyosis, furfur, and palmoplantar keratosis without side effects and at the same time can lower serum IgE level on an abnormally high level in a short period of time. After the symptom and predisposition have been improved, these agents can, even after suspension of administration, persistently lower the serum IgE level and in addition can inhibit the recurrence of the symptom.
Abstract: Use of an extract derived from the fruits, the leaves, the bark or the roots of Morinda citrifolia L. for the manufacture of a medicament for the treatment of a mammal suffering from tinnitus. The extract may be a liquid present in the medicament in an amount such as to give a daily dosage of 0.1-2 ml, or 0.2-1 ml, e.g. 0.4-0.7 ml, per kg body weight of the patient. The extract also may be a solid present in the medicament in an amount such as to give a daily dosage of 5-200 mg, or 10-100 mg, e.g. 20-70 mg, per kg body weight of the patient. Optionally, the medicament also may comprise lycopene, vitamine C, coenyme Q10 and an extract from the leaves of Ginkgo biloba. The medicament may be given e.g. by oral, rectal, transdermal or inhalation administration.
Abstract: A beverage such as coffee, tea, cocoa or cola soda is described. The beverage contains caffeine or theobromine and between 0.5 and 30 mg of vinpocetine citrate per 100 ml of the beverage. The beverage is used to stimulate cerebral activity.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an herbal therapeutic product for controlling diabetes mellitus comprising at least one hypoglycemic compound extracted from the pulp of fruit Eugenia jambolina. The said product is prepared from the pulp of the fruit Eugenia jambolina comprising cleaning and drying the fruit to remove the extraneous material from the outer layer of the said fruit, deseeding the said fruit, soaking the de-seeded pulp in water, mixing the said mixture of water and pulp and keeping it overnight in controlled cooled conditions to maintain the activity of hypoglycemic compounds, filtering the said mixture, washing the residue with water to extract all the active compounds from the said mixture of water and pulp in the form of clear watery solution, reducing the water content by keeping the said clear watery solution in freezing conditions to get the residues in concentrated form, purifying the said concentrated product in the chromatography by using slurries of different columns.
Abstract: A herbal formulation that is orally administered and which affects colds or the flu in a human subject comprises beta glucans, olive leaf extract, echinacea, goldenseal, una de gato, pao d'arco, elderberry dried berries and cayenne pepper. The formulation can also include zinc lozenges if symptoms of a sore throat are present in the subject.
Abstract: An herbal composition which can help promote prostate health in men is prepared from saw palmetto, green tea, pumpkin seed oil, ginger, dual urtica root extracts, selenium, watermelon and rosemary. The composition contains therapeutically effective amounts of: supercritical extracts of saw palmetto, ginger, and rosemary, regular or supercritical extracts of green tea, pumpkin seed oil and urtica; selenium; and watermelon. In addition to promoting prostate health, the herbal composition of this invention normalizes urine flow and promotes healthy sexual function and performance. The composition also contains constituents which inhibit 5-lipoxygenase, thereby promoting normal prostate cell growth, and anti-aging constituents that inactivate free radicals, thereby providing antioxidant benefits. The composition is preferably administered orally or parenterally.
Abstract: An herbal composition which can be used to alleviate the symptoms associated with hormonal imbalance in women contains supercritical extracts of ginger, rosemary and evening primrose oil, and either regular or supercritical (preferably regular) extracts of black cohosh, dong quai, schizandra berry, chaste tree berry and rosemary. The herbal composition can be administered orally, topically or parenterally. In addition to promoting hormonal balance, the herbal composition also promotes normal bone growth by inhibiting the 5-lipoxygenase enzyme and sustains warmth and normal fluids for healthy sexual functioning. Furthermore, the herbal composition contains organic anti-aging constituents that inactivate free radicals, thereby providing antioxidant activity.
Abstract: Provided by the present invention are novel diguanamine derivatives, led by 2,5/2,6-bis(4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-bicyclo[2.2.1]heptanes and 1,3/1,4-bis(4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazin-2-yl)-cyclohexanes, and derivatives thereof, applications of these compounds in fields such as adhesives and paints, utilization of these compounds in flame-retarding, thermal stabilization and compatibilization methods of resins, thermosetting molding compositions and thermosetting expansion-molding compositions making use of these compounds, as well as polymeric microspheres also using these compounds.
