Abstract: A hair cosmetic composition comprising a cosmetic base containing 0.5 to 40% by weight of a diol derivative having the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein X.sub.1 is R--or ##STR2## in which R is branched alkyl having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, X.sub.2 is --H or ##STR3## in which R is branched alkyl having 6 to 12 carbon atoms, R.sub.1 is H, CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5 or C.sub.3 H.sub.7, R.sub.2 is H, CH.sub.3, C.sub.2 H.sub.5 or OH, and n and m each is an integer of from 1 to 3,or a branched aliphatic alcohol having the formula (II): ##STR4## wherein R.sub.3 is linear or branched alkyl having 8 to 10 carbon atoms and R.sub.4 is linear or branched alkyl having 6 to 8 carbon atoms,said hair cosmetic composition also having incorporated therein from 0.5 to 10% of a methylpolysiloxane having the formula (III): ##STR5## wherein l is an integer of from 3 to 14.

Abstract: The subject of the invention is a pressurised aerosol formulation, which is in the form of a mixture, to be sprayed as a cosmetic, room or medicinal spray, of a propellant gas and organic solvents, as the propellant, and also active compounds and solvents for the active compounds, wherein the improvement comprises that the mixture is in the form of a homogeneous solution and this contains at least 50 percent by weight, preferably at least 55 percent by weight, of non-combustible constituents--relative to the total weight of the mixture--and contains, as the propellant gases, carbon dioxide and dimethyl ether, and, as non-combustible constituents, at least water, carbon dioxide, methylene chloride and/or 1,1,1-trichloroethane. This pressurized aerosol formulation is during transport, on storage and in use a product of low accident risk for the indicated purpose.

Abstract: New compositions for the treatment of keratin material, in particular human hair, skin and nails are provided comprising a combination of a cationic polymer with an anionic polymer. Surprisingly the anionic polymer can be retained well on the hair, even after rinsing, when applied with the cationic polymer.

The indoaniline is usefully employed in dye compositions for keratinic fibers, especially living human hair.

Abstract: A creme rinse composition is provided for application to the hair for ease in combing and static control and to provide body and setting properties thereto comprising an aqueous composition containing from about 0.02 to about 2 weight percent of an anionic polymer and from about 0.1 to about 5 weight percent of a cationic surfactant capable of forming a water insoluble reaction product with said anionic polymer.

Abstract: Aminated .gamma.-dialdehyde and the quaternary ammonium salts thereof are prepared by acid hydrolysis of their respective corresponding 2,5-dialkoxy 3-amino 4-hydroxy tetrahydrofurans or by acid hydrolysis of their respective corresponding tetraalkyl acetals. The aminated .gamma.-dialdehydes and the quaternary ammonium salts thereof are usefully employed in cosmetic compositions to tan the skin or to strengthen or restructure the hair.

Abstract: A process for improving the appearance of oily hair or skin, including the scalp, comprises applying thereto an effective amount of an aqueous or hydroalcoholic solution of gelatin present in an amount of about 0.5 to 1.5 percent by weight thereof.

Abstract: Liquid detergent compositions are provided containing a modified protein of pI > pH6 and a mixture of alkyl benzene sulphonate and auxiliary surfactants in which the ratio of alkyl benzene sulphonate to the auxiliary surfactant is greater than 1.5:1. Granular, bar and liquid detergent formulations embodying the invention are disclosed.

Abstract: A composition for treating oily hair or skin to reduce the oily appearance thereof comprises in an appropriate vehicle an active compound having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.3 is lower alkyl containing 1-3 carbon atoms; n= 0 or 1 with the proviso that when n= 0, ##STR2## and when n= 1, R.sub.2 is hydrogen; and HX represents a mineral or organic acid. The composition can be applied topically or be orally administered to a person whose hair or skin has an oily appearance to reduce said oily appearance.

Abstract: Hair conditioner compositions suitable for use as after-shampoo preparations or before-shampoo preparations which comprise (A) 1 to 40% by weight of a liquid polymer that is obtained by polymerization of .alpha.-olefin having 6 to 18 carbon atoms and has an average of from 24 to 60 carbon atoms and a viscosity of 18 to 200 centistokes at 37.8.degree. C. (100.degree. F.), (B) 0.5 to 25% by weight of a surface active agent, and (C) 20 to 95% by weight of water.

Abstract: A method of treating hair on the head to reduce the time required for the drying thereof when wet comprising applying to the hair a polymer derived from an (N-alkyl perfluoroalkanesulphonamido)-ethyl acrylate or methacrylate monomer.

Abstract: This invention is concerned with the pretreatment of hair on the human head, preceding shampooing the hair with anionic type hair shampoos, and with compositions for effecting such pretreatment, to obtain highly improved manageability of the hair after shampooing and with improved fullness, compability and other desired properties of the hair. The pretreatment compositions utilize readily water-soluble quaternary ammonium compounds, particularly in combination with certain agents, notably polyethylenimines and N-ethanolacetamide, and desirably together with various supplemental ingredients.

The invention includes a process of grooming hair comprising applying the grooming aid to hair and brushing the hair at a temperature above the transition temperature at which PTFE fibriliates to form microscopic and submicroscopic fibers, in an amount sufficient to give the hair a natural appearance and to maintain its set for a long time.
