Abstract: A system and method are provided for using magnetic elements to secure thin wires precisely in an injection molding process in a manner that matches a three-dimensional shape of the an injection molded product produced by the injection molding (overmolding) process. The thin wires are substantially immobilized in a manner that is designed to generally overcome the tendency of the thin wires, which have little mechanical strength, to normally deflect during an injection molding process by employing the magnetic forces produced by embedded magnets. Magnets are integrated into either the cavity or core of a mold structure and the thin wires are placed on those magnets to keep the wires in place during an injection molding process that allows the thin wires to be overmolded. A balance of the core and/or cavity of the mold will be formed of a non-magnetic material.

  • Patent number: 8323715
Abstract: The complementary parts of food products destined to be coupled together are located on the frontal surfaces of half-moulds travelling on two different loop conveyor lines. The first conveyor line extends, at least partially, above the second, so to be included within the surface area occupied by the second line itself. Spatial occupation is further reduced since, downstream to the coupling station, the coupled half-moulds travel with the same spacing step that they had before coupling, with additional advantages in terms of energy absorption and advancing velocity in a successive thermal conditioning station, such as a refrigerating tunnel. One of the half-moulds can be removed upstream to the thermal conditioning station, resulting in an additional reduction in energy absorption since needless subjecting of the half-mould to the thermal cycle to which the products are subjected is avoided.

Abstract: A system and method for forming an article from thermoplastic material and fiber. The method includes heating thermoplastic material to form a molten thermoplastic material for blending with the fiber. The molten thermoplastic material is blended with the fibers to form a molten composite material having a concentration of fiber by weight. The molten composite material may then be extruded through dynamic dies to deliver discrete controlled material that is gravitated onto a lower portion of a mold. The lower portion of the mold may be moved in space and time while receiving the flow of composite material to deposit a predetermined quantity of molten composite material thereon conforming to mold cavities of the lower and an upper portion of the mold. The upper portion of the mold may be pressed against the predetermined quantity of molten composite material and closing on the lower portion of the mold to form the article.
