  • Patent number: 4995801
Abstract: A conveyor having an endless conveying belt, which includes a series of slats, which in the upper course of the belt constitute a conveying surface. The slats include sheet metal blanks and are supported on link chains. The slats are adapted to be manually removed from and to be inserted into the conveying belt. The link chains extend along opposite edges of the conveyor belt and mesh with chain sprockets, which constitute reversing pulleys. The design permits a rational series production and permits the use of the conveyor even for a delivery of very hot moldings made of plastics which have aggressive and/or abrasive properties. When slats or chain links have become soiled to such an extent that the function of the conveyor may adversely be affected or when defects have occurred, such parts can be replaced with a low expenditure of work and with a simple manipulation.

  • Patent number: 4983112
Abstract: An interlocking device for a HIP equipment that prevents possible damage to the HIP equipment arising from use of a furnace or processing gas in error and can control the oxygen concentration and pressure within the HIP equipment. The device includes a sensor for detecting a concentration of oxygen in the processing gas in a processing gas pipe system. If the sensor detects an excessively high oxygen concentration, a supply side interlocking mechanism closes a valve for the pipe system and disconnects a power source for a furnace in a high pressure vessel. A flow switch is connected to a safety pipe system having a safety device, and a thermocouple is provided for each of the safety and processing gas pipe systems and a relief pipe system.

  • Patent number: 4911630
Abstract: Disclosed is a device for preventing the scattering of ejected molded articles in a plastic forming. The scattering prevention device includes screens made of a synthetic resin film and disposed at both sides of molds mounted on a fixed die plate and a movable die plate and inside a space defined by tie bars in such a manner that the molds can be covered, and magnetic assemblies coupled to the two lateral ends of each of the screens for fixing the screen to the molds or die plates. The synthetic resin film screens are mounted on the molds or the die plates only by the use of the magnetic assemblies. Each of the screen follows the clamping of the mold, and is contracted and folded. It is extended when it follows the opening of the movable mold.

  • Patent number: 4881715
Abstract: A mold which comprises a pair of mating, openable and closeable mold halves and a lock to hold the mold halves together. The lock is defined by a recess in the outer surface of one of the mold halves. A lifting bridge crosses the recess, being proportioned to permit a lifting hook in the recess to pass underneath to engage the bridge. An elongated member is secured to the other of the mold halves, being slidably extendable into the recess when the mold halves are substantially closed. The elongated member defines a longitudinal slot facing outwardly of the recess in closed position to receive at least a portion of the lifting hook as the hook engages the bridge. The slot defines an end opposed to the other mold half which is closed, to prevent a hook portion in the slot from sliding past the opposed end. Thus, the mold in closed position cannot be opened while the lifting hook is present in the slot.

  • Patent number: 4847023
Abstract: A method for controlling an injection motor of an injection-molding machine to prevent overheating such that injection-molding conditions to prevent the injection motor from overheating can be set securely. When injection-molding conditions are initially set (S1-S3), the ratio (R) between the integral of the amount of heat, produced by an injection motor driving current for one injection-molding cycle, and the allowable integral of the heat amount obtained when a continuous rated current flow is calculated (S5) before the one injection-molding cycle is executed in accordance with the new set injection-molding conditions. Then, the calculated ratio (R) and an allowable ratio (Rmax) are compared, and it is previously determined (S6) whether an overheating state of the injection motor can be produced when the injection-molding cycle is executed in accordance with the set conditions. If overheating can be produced, a warning is issued (S7).

  • Patent number: 4744931
Abstract: Pressure is controlled in plural stages of a shaping system for a green tire in a curing press, so that each successive shaping stage is completed when a target pressure for that stage is reached. A radial tire is preferably shaped in three stages in the first of which a first target pressure in the range from 2 psig to 5 psig is the desired shaping pressure; in the second stage, a second target pressure in the range from 7-10 psig is desired; in the third stage, a third target pressure in the range from 10-15 psig is desired. A pressure transducer (PT) senses the pressure in a bladder, one PT for each bladder. A programmable controller (PC) which controls operation of the press, stores and executes a sequence of instructions which determine the optimum desired shaping pressure for each stage, computed from the type and size of the tire to be cured, the period of time the press is down before it is loaded, and the number of heats on each bladder.

  • Patent number: 4706926
Abstract: A mold comprising mold halves separable along a parting line has a rotating lifting handle carried by one of the mold halves, where the handle rotates between a first position in which it lies generally flat against the mold and a second position in which it extends outwardly from the mold to permit engagement by a lifting hook or the like. By this invention, rotation of the lifting handle from the first to the second position is prevented when the mold halves are separated along the parting line by more than a predetermined distance. Thus the mold cannot be lifted, since the handle cannot be rotated into outwardly extending position to receive the hook until the mold is closed. Additionally, this invention may be used to prevent opening of the parting line between the mold halves when in closed relation, while the handle is in the second position.

The hydraulic motors which move the mold sections can receive pressurized fluid only when the shield is locked in the operative position by a roller. When the roller is retracted from its arresting position, a mechanical power train automatically closes valves which are installed in conduits connecting the motors with oil pumps. The valve elements of the valves are mechanically coupled to each other and to the roller, and are biased by a spring which tends to maintain the roller in the arresting position. A single-acting hydraulic cylinder is employed to move the roller from the arresting position. The shield can be moved by hand and/or by a double-acting hydraulic cylinder.

Abstract: A protective hood for a tablet compressing machine includes a heavy cover plate 12 resiliently supported on the top of the machine frame 11, vertical support members 14, hinged windows 16 secured to the support members by locks 21, and acoustical absorption plates 15 above and below the windows. Environmental integrity is implemented by channel members 17 around the edges of the support members and provided with chambers 18 kept at a positive pressure through inlets 19. The chambers are closed by rubber seals 20 around the edges of the windows 16.

  • Patent number: 4047870
Abstract: A molding press for forming articles from thermoplastic sheet materials comprises a generally hollow, fluid-tight housing, the lower surface of which comprises a flexible gas-tight diaphragm. The housing is movably positioned above a flat base, on which there is placed a mold covered with a softened sheet of thermoplastic material. During a molding cycle, the housing is lowered and interlocked with the base bringing the diaphragm adjacent the mold, and a fluid under pressure is introduced into the housing, causing the diaphragm to exert a uniform force on the thermoplastic sheet and forcing it to assume the contours of the mold. The base is equipped with mechanical and electrical interlock means which cooperate with the housing to insure that the fluid pressure cannot be applied until the housing and the base are safely interlocked and that the housing cannot be separated from the base while fluid pressure is supplied to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4014634
Abstract: A powder molding press, for compression-molding a raw powder between a pair of metal molds coupled to a pair of metal mold securing devices. At a preset spacing, the movement of the metal mold securing devices toward each other is electrically detected in order to cut off the driving means advancing the metal mold securing devices. In addition, the movement of the metal mold securing device is mechanically stopped by means of stoppers, with the result that the final position of the metal molds can be precisely regulated.
