For Molding Temperature Or Pressure Patents (Class 425/170)
  • Patent number: 5360331
Abstract: A pressure transducer for an injection molding machine includes a housing coupled to a nozzle of an injection molding machine. A hollow stress tube, attached to the housing, through which molten material of the injection molding machine flows, bellows in response to pressure from the material. An outer ring having an opening is coupled to the stress tube such that the outer ring expands, causing displacement of the outer ring about the opening, when the stress tube bellows. A displacement sensor is included for determining the displacement of the outer ring about the opening. This displacement is directly proportional to the pressure of the material. In this manner, the pressure transducer determines the pressure of the molten material.

  • Patent number: 5360330
Abstract: A source of radio frequency energy is applied to a low thermal inertia heating element with high thermal conductivity, such as a spool, for rapidly heating the heating element to settable predetermined temperature, which temperature is maintained essentially constant. The heating element is detachably attached about the die of a mold for transferring heat to the die to form, mold, weld or extrude thermoplastic material placed within the mold. Thermal chokes restrict heat transfer from the die to the remainder of the mold. One or more heat sinks draws and dissipates heat from the thermal chokes to maintain cool zones of the mold. Following the heating cycle, upon termination of application of radio frequency energy to the spool, cooling may be accelerated by directing a stream of gas upon the heating element.

This apparatus detects the operating conditions of the injection molding machine through internal processing with a PMCCPU 14 for the sequence control of the injection molding machine. While specific operating conditions are detected, fine times .DELTA.t, execution cycles of the internal processing, are added in succession. By doing this, integrated time for each operating condition, that is, operating time for each operating condition, is calculated. • Patent number: 5332379
Abstract: An extrusion head for sheathing elongate objects such as cables has a housing with an elongate bore in which there is a hollow mandrel through which is passed the object to be sheathed. An extruder connected to the extrusion head housing forces sheathing material into the bore of the housing and out through the forming tool to form a sheath on the cable or other object as it is passed through the hollow mandrel. A rotor which is rotatable on the mandrel has a screw thread web of decreasing height for propelling sheathing material toward the forming tool. • Patent number: 5326393
Abstract: A moldable material, which either has dipoles or other charged particles therein, or is susceptible to their creation, is introduced into a mold or is passed through a die. The material is then subjected to a polarization medium until either at least some of the dipoles or other charged particles are oriented in the direction of the polarization medium, or until at least some dipoles or other charged particles are created thereby. Thereafter, the material is permitted to cool. Once cooled, the molded material is separated from the mold or die. The effect of polarizing the moldable material is then analyzed by permitting an at least partial relaxation of the dipoles or other charges therein which were polarized or created. This relaxation results in a measurable current which is related to the actual temperature of the material at the time the polarization medium was applied.

This is compared with a reference time function Ao=f(t) of a shot in which satisfactory products can be obtained, with a time function An=f(t) of another shot.

Abstract: A drive system abnormality detecting apparatus of an injection-molding machine includes a microprocessor (19) for a controller, which causes a display unit (24) to indicate the occurrence of an abnormal situation. The drive of a servomotor (5) for an injection is stopped when the microprocessor concludes that the difference between the driving current of the servomotor and the output of a force detector, indicative of the resin pressure inside a cylinder (2), is not within predetermined permissible limits. The motor driving current and the detector output are individually periodically detected, during the time interval between the start of injection to the end of metering. By doing th is, the microprocessor prevents production of defective moldings, attributable to the occurrence of an abnormal situation in a screw drive system, and damage to components of the screw drive system and dies.

Abstract: This invention relates to an injection pressure control apparatus for a die cast machine and an injection mold machine. In the injection pressure control apparatus, it detects whether the pressure increase state of the instance when the pressure of the injection cylinder is increased through a pressure increasing circuit is normal or not. When detecting the above state, the pressure change obtained at the instance when the pressure increasing circuit is operated is detected between two points, of which it is determined whether the time spent therebetween is within an allowable time or not and the result is indicated. Moreover, the pressure detected after the pressure increasing circuit was operated and a predetermined period of time has passed is determined whether it is within a predetermined allowable range or not and the result thereof is indicated.
