Abstract: The forming tool with a special structuring surface includes a reusable ceramic base tool and a replaceable metallic forming member releasably attached to the base tool and provided with a structuring surface for forming a structure in the plate glass. When the comparatively rapidly wearing forming member must be replaced, especially when structuring to form structures with sharp edges, only replacement of the metallic forming member is necessary. This two-component structure also provides additional freedom regarding selection of materials for the base tool and the structuring surface. Thus the base tool can have a comparatively smaller thermal expansion and/or conductivity and the forming member can have a comparatively higher thermal conductivity.

  • Patent number: 6106262
Abstract: An apparatus for reproducing compaction and ejection events in a plurality of press machines is disclosed. Each press machine has at least one die opening wherein a compound is placed to be compressed at least once between upper and lower punches sliding inside the said die whereupon the compressed compound is ejected from the die cavity. The apparatus and methods ensure that the plurality of compression and ejection events have the same exact speed, profile curvature, and pressure or force as on any pre-specified press machine by matching the timing and geometrical path of the punch movements as well as the depth of fill of the die. The linear speed of the punches is matched by a computer controlling the programmable motor of the die carrier. The path profiles of the punches are matched mechanically by means of interchangeable rollers and cams with the predefined geometry. The pressure or forces of the matching events are controlled and adjusted by means of the positioning of the lower punch in the die.

  • Patent number: 5462425
Abstract: An apparatus for mechanically separating water from coal includes a vibrating hopper, two contra-rotating cylinders, a solid collector, and a fluid collector. The hopper feeds hydrated coal or coal slurry to wells which are arranged along the surface of a first rotating cylinder. A second rotating cylinder has protrusions on its surface which are precisely placed such that when the first and second cylinders are brought in contact and rotated in contra-rotating directions, each of the wells of the first cylinder and a corresponding protrusion of the second cylinder form mating female and male dies. Coal in the female dies is pressed, and the moisture in the coal is squeezed out. The coal remaining in the dies is then delivered to the solid collector via a pusher. The distance between the cylinders may be varied through adjustable cylinder bearings or pillow blocks. Both the male and female dies may be removed and replaced.

Abstract: An apparatus for forming venting channels in a continuously-formed foam product includes a plurality of channel-forming plates which are removably attachable to the upper endless-type conveyor of a rigid foam laminating apparatus. The channel-forming plates provide a molding surface to form transverse channels in the foam product during the foaming operation. The channel-forming plates are easily removed for repair and/or replacement and include a centering bar which accurately positions each plate on the endless conveyor. The channel-forming plates are configured to form generally U-shaped channels in the upper surface of the continuously formed foam product to provide venting channels when the foam product is cut and used in roof insulation. The product and venting channels therein are sized to provide a continuous channel when a plurality of the foam panels are used as well as to facilitate attachment to standard trusses or joists.
