Abstract: An automatic slug feeding device for delivering slugs to a compression mold for molding golf ball cores is characterized by synchronized rotary transfer, slug conveyance, gripping mechanism transfer and a tray conveyor for transferring slugs from an extruder to a mold loading robotic arm, and subsequently to a mold press. The rotary transfer device receives slugs from the extruder and the slug conveyor linearly conveys individual slugs from the transfer device. The gripping mechanism simultaneously removes a plurality of slugs from the conveyor and deposits them in an array of receptacles in a molding trays which are shuttled to an unload position, where the mold loading robotic arm transfers slugs into a mold press. Storage of extruded slugs prior to compression molding is thus eliminated, cycle time is reduced, core quality is improved, and operator safety is maximized.

Abstract: A mold frame of a boiled rice-shaping apparatus is installed to a chamber-forming member, and vinegared rice is charged in a chamber which is formed by a bottom section, end surface sections, and side surface sections. The mold frame is removed, and a handle is grasped so that a first rotatable plate is rotated in a direction of the arrow A, and a second rotatable plate is rotated in a direction of the arrow B. Thus, the vinegared rice is pressed and compressed in a widthwise direction. Further, a lid member is displaced in a direction to make approach to the bottom section. Thus, the vinegared rice is pressed and compressed in a vertical direction to be shaped to have a predetermined shape.

  • Patent number: 5908590
Abstract: The present invention provides a process and apparatus for readily and continuously producing foamed resin containers with labels by following a process sequence including the steps of supplying a sheet which bears label bodies printed in predetermined positions thereon, positioning a label body, punching the label body, and molding a foamed resin container with the label properly positioned. The invention further provides a process which allows for precise positioning of a label. Therefore, a thin and less stiff synthetic resin sheet can be employed for the label instead of a paper base. In addition, the label can be applied in a predetermined position on the foamed resin container without preliminarily rolling the label into a predetermined tubular shape.

Abstract: An automated transfer/injection molding apparatus and process is defined that includes a charge forming unit, a shuttle unit, and a molding unit. The charge is formed from one or more slabs of reinforcing fibers and a resinous material. Once formed, the charge is preheated in the charge shuttle unit and is delivered to the molding unit, whereupon the preheated charges are forced by the pressure of a movable platform under vacuum into a mold cavity for polymerization. The fibers within the slabs are randomly oriented in parallel horizontal planes such that they are always parallel to the direction of initial flow into the cavity.

Abstract: An apparatus is provided for dividing a long dough mass into dough portions, each of which has a predetermined length, and forming a continuous dough strip from the respective dough portions. A first transporter transports the long dough mass that exceeds the predetermined length along a first conveying path. The first transporter includes a rotary cutter for dividing the long dough mass into a plurality of dough portions each having the predetermined length. A second transporter receives the dough portions from the first transporter and transports them along a second conveying path. The first and second conveying paths are arranged so that the predetermined length of each respective dough portion extends in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of the width of the continuous strip. A joining device receives the dough portions and joins them to form the continuous dough strip.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for compression molding plastic articles such as closures include a plurality of tools mounted in opposed pairs with the tools of each pair including opposed male and female mold sections. The tool pairs are mounted for motion in an endless path. The tool pairs and associated mold sections are closed during motion in the path for compression a molding charge in the mold cavity formed between the mold sections of each pair, and opening the mold cavity to release an article formed between the mold sections. A latch mechanism is associated with each pair of tools for holding the tools and mold sections in the closed position during motion in the path independent of the mechanism for closing the tools and mold halves. In this way, forces imparted to the mold halves and tools to hold the mold closed are isolated from the machine frame. The latch mechanism is selectively unlatched to permit opening of the mold halves and release of the article compression-molded between the mold halves.
