Severing Means Preceding Reshaping Means Patents (Class 425/297)
  • Patent number: 4781564
Abstract: The disclosed apparatus defines a soap press component and a grinding component, operatively associated with one another. The grinding component has an inlet for receiving small soap bars or end pieces, and means for grinding them up to even finer pieces or shavings. The soap press component has wall structure defining a chamber having open top and bottom ends; a removable bottom wall is used to close the open bottom end, and a movable upper shaping form is used to close the open top end. A rotatable screw connected to the upper shaping form provides for moving such form from an elevated position spaced above the open top chamber end, to a lowered position extended into and through the chamber. The grinding component outlet discharges the soap pieces or shavings to above the open top chamber end; whereby they drop then into the chamber from the open top end thereof.

  • Patent number: 4778365
Abstract: Apparatus for preparing extrudable food products prior to cooking includes depositing portions of food product onto a horizontal surface, coating the food portions with flour, vacuuming away excess flour, and incrementally flattening the food portions to a desired thickness. An apparatus for performing this process includes a first flour depositor, a food depositor, a second flour depositor, and a food flattener, all mounted above a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is mounted atop a supporting chassis which, in addition to providing a mounting base for the components named above, houses the electrical and hydraulic control means for the apparatus. The food depositor comprises conventional extruding means suitable for use with raw dough or ground meat, and a duality of hydraulically activated, high-speed cutter blades. The uniquely designed cutter blades have flattened, essentially planar cutting edge portions which create an aerodynamic shock wave along the line of impact between the blades.

Abstract: A blank is formed out of plasticizable, heated plastic by means of an extruding-type material supply head. A somewhat lenticular profiling of the blank is obtained by appropriately controlling a closing member of the material supply head, which is built as a valve cone. A punching device is provided above the conveyor for successively cutting out a series of spaced-apart pieces of dough from the said sheet, the part of the dough sheet remaining after cutting being taken up from the conveyor by a recovery elevator. Downstream of the recovery elevator, a dispensing unit operates to deposit cylindrical support cores on the conveyor between successive pieces of dough, the dough piece and cores being thereafter transported by the conveyor to a rolling-up unit where the pieces of dough are rolled up around the cylindrical support cores. A collecting conveyor unit receives the support cores, with the pieces of dough rolled therearound, from the rolling-up unit.

  • Patent number: 4340343
Abstract: A food preparation machine primarily designed for the production of the Italian potato based delicacy gnocchi and characterized by an inclined flouring ramp, a motor driven roller located under the lower end of the ramp, a deflection plate located proximate the roller, and a dough extruder for depositing dough plugs near the top of the ramp so that they roll and slide down the ramp into abutment with the deflection plate and the roller. As the roller is rotated the dough plugs are squeezed through a gap between the roller and the lower edge of the deflection plate to take on the characteristic form of gnocchi. A flouring mechanism is provided to flour the parts of the machine that come into contact with the dough, including the ramp and a rotating knife blade which cuts the extruded dough into the plugs. The roller is threaded from both ends with opposing threads so that the plugs are urged towards the center of the roller as it is rotated.

  • Patent number: 4340345
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed for preparing a tubular parison, which is continuously extruded in an extrusion direction from an extrusion head, and for subsequently transferring the parison to a blow molding machine. The apparatus provides improved control of the wall thickness of the parison and can be used with particular advantage in making articles requiring parisons of large diameter and length. The apparatus includes a parison stretching mechanism that grasps and seals the parison at one location along its length and stretches the parison at a controlled rate while being extruded in the extrusion direction. The apparatus also sequentially severs sections of the parison from the remaining continuously extruded portion and transfers each section to a stationary blow molding machine out of the path of this remaining portion.

Abstract: A method of affecting the tail end of a roll of plastic film to render it readily identifiable and easy to grasp and start without tearing the film web into strips. The tail end of the film is embossed on-line as it is separated and about to be wound up on a roll core. The method is accomplished by securing the tail end between a heated surface on the upstream side of a knife on a cut-off roll and a lifting and embossment mechanism to provide a wide embossment across the tail end of the film at about the time it is severed from the film stock. The method produces a novel puckered tail, particularly for highly oriented films where tension is relieved while the tail end is still heated.
