  • Patent number: 4674972
Abstract: Apparatus for forming plastic articles by a thermoform process. A plastic sheet is supported between an upper female and lower male mold. The heater assembly is moved horizontally over the sheet which is heated and caused to conform to the lower molds shape when the upper mold is lowered thereabouts, thus forming the desired object. Vacuum means retain the formed object within the upper mold assembly during separation of the molds and deposits the formed object on the top of the heater assembly upon its repositioning over the lower mold to heat a subsequent sheet. The formed object is carried away from the molds on the top of the heater assembly upon subsequent horizontal retraction of the heater assembly from between the molds. An air jet from an orifice on the top surface of the heater assembly then propells the formed object onto a conveyor belt.

  • Patent number: 4162885
Abstract: Apparatus for molding material including a frame for holding the material and which is movable away from the molding die so that the material can be loaded and unloaded into and out of the frame at positions clear of the die. The frame has spring biased movable mountings having pins which penetrate the material and hold this in a resilient manner during molding. A turntable support is provided for holding two of the frames on opposite sides of a vertical axis, and this holds one frame in a convenient loading position while the other frame is holding material being molded.

  • Patent number: 4127374
Abstract: Apparatus for manufacturing the cups of a brassiere from a fabric of synthetic material, said apparatus consisting of a frame with members for stretching and/or clamping and/or transporting the fabric between a mould which may be moved up and down, and a supporting rim cooperating with said mould and mounted therebelow, while further means are present to separate the cups, formed by the mould, from the remaining fabric.

  • Patent number: 4043736
Abstract: In a thermoforming machine for forming products from plastic sheets or the like, two shuttles or sheet-carrying frames shuttle interchangeably between a feeding station and a forming and loading station, with the shuttle which carries the sagging heated sheet passing under the oppositely moving shuttle. At opposite ends of a transverse axis at the longitudinal center of each shuttle, pivotal connections are provided to vertically looped drive chains so that the shuttle can remain right-side up as it follows the looped path of its chains. Rails are provided which support the shuttles and maintain them horizontal as they move. At the forming and loading station, snorkels engage the shuttle stopped there to provide suitable air pressure and discharge connections for operating sheet clamps by double-acting cylinders. The snorkels thrust the shuttle rearwardly against a ratchet, for accurate stop-positioning between snug side-cams.

  • Patent number: 3964237
Abstract: With the view to obviating or mitigating the disadvantages that in processes for the production of containers, for example, product-filled containers, in which processes a substantial proportion of scrap is produced and that the space occupied by a plurality of the containers prior to the product-filling thereof is considerable even if the containers are disposed in stacked relationship, there is provided a process for manufacturing a rimmed container preparatory to the filling and closing thereof from a one piece homogeneous blank, composed entirely of heat formable material containing just the requisite amount of material for forming the rimmed container to be filled, filling rim and an apparatus for performing the process, wherein the process includes the steps of uniformly heating a substantially rigid planar preshaped homogeneous blank of thermo plastic material, out to at least immediately adjacent the portion thereof adapted to form the container rim to a formable state while leaving the outermost peri
