Shaping Member For Traversing The Interior Surface Of Hollow Work Patents (Class 425/460)
  • Patent number: 4181696
Abstract: In forming settable mix into hollow-cored articles, cantilevered hollow core-forming mandrels are disposed in a mold station, each mandrel being wrapped in a flexible, non-porous casing formed as an endless loop slip-case which encloses the exterior and interior mandrel walls. Movement of the mix moves the casing along the longitudinal mandrel axis rotating it around the exterior and interior mandrel walls, thereby preventing the accretions of settable material on the mandrel.

  • Patent number: 4177031
Abstract: An apparatus for casting tubular polymeric membranes for reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration which includes a plurality of upwardly extending casting tubes, a manifold with branch outlets for mounting the casting tubes to extend upwardly therefrom, a casting bob assembly comprising a centering sleeve with a screw threaded bore and cylindrical extension, a casting bob screwed into the centering sleeve and having casting solution outlet ports to an annular gap between the casting bob and the casting sleeve, the annular gap being adjustable by screwing the casting bob into and out of the centering sleeve, and a transport sleeve which is pressed on to the casting bob and the cylindrical extension of the centering sleeve for transporting the assembly from one casting tube to another between casting operations and a flexible sleeve and a hose clamp for releasably securing the transport sleeve in a lower end of each casting and sealing the lower ends of each casting tube to a branch outlet.

  • Patent number: 4115172
Abstract: An uninflated unmounted tire is supported in a frame of the apparatus for engagement with a sealant applicator head that contacts the interior tire liner after a bead spreading device on the frame spreads apart the tire beads, and an elevator member on the frame raises the tire. The applicator head has a tire engaging profile corresponding to that of the tire and an elongated opening for which highly viscous, sticky sealant is discharged onto the tire liner under the tread in a layer of predetermined cross section as the tire is rotated on the frame past the applicator head. A complete coating of sealant is applied during one revolution of the tire, with the sealant having a butt joint, or an overlapping splice formed when the elevator member is lowered a predetermined amount by a drop-off mechanism as the tire completes one revolution of sealant application.

  • Patent number: 4067680
Abstract: The invention relates to a frustoconical drag trowel which is drawn through a pipe or the like to trowel a layer of mortar or other plastic lining material therein. The frustoconical trowel has a small leading end of relatively fixed diameter and a large trailing end which is adapted to be expanded and contracted in a diametral direction. The present disclosure provides a novel means within the large end of the trowel for exerting a resilient expansive force thereagainst. This means comprises a hollow torus adapted to bear against the interior of the large end of the trowel along the perimeter of the torus.

  • Patent number: 4020790
Abstract: A method for forming a coating of rubber or a synthetic resin having an even thickness on the external surface of a tubular textile jacket made of fibers woven or knitted in a tubular form, which comprises continuously passing the tubular textile jacket through one or more baths of a coating liquid and then solidifying the coating liquid attached to the external surface of the jacket, characterized in that an expanding assembly provided with plural expanding members which are capable of inflating the tubular textile jacket to almost circular or elliptical form in its cross section and are arranged at appropriate intervals in the longitudinal direction of the assembly is put in the interior space of the jacket and maintained in a definite position to the coating liquid in the baths, thereby keeping the jacket almost circular or elliptic in its cross section at least for a distance from the position where the tubular textile jacket departs from the bath of coating liquid to the position where fluidity of the co

  • Patent number: 3990829
Abstract: Molten crystallizable polymer is extruded through an orifice. Opposite the orifice on the upstream side is a fixed surface arranged so as to provide in the molten polymer a line of uniaxial extension or a plane of pure shear passing through the orifice. The polymer is extruded at a temperature and flow rate such as to cause a core of crystalline polymer to form in the melt along said line or plane. It is particularly suitable for extruding a continuous filament having a highly crystalline core in a generally less crystalline matrix of the polymer.

  • Patent number: 3990830
Abstract: A multi-stage frusto-conical trowel is towed by a machine which travels through a pipe and applies a layer of mortar to the inside surface of the pipe. The multi-stage trowel is carried on a rigid support member which is pivotally connected to the end of a towing rod extending to the rear of the mortar-dispensing machine. A first stage trowel with overlapping arcuate leaves is rigidly attached to the front of the support member and performs rough troweling of the mortar layer. A second stage trowel has overlapping arcuate leaves in which the leaf joints are offset circumferentially from the leaf joints of the first trowel. The second stage trowel is rigidly attached to the rear of the support member and performs finish smoothing of the mortar layer.
