Thus, the sealing part of the pouch may have a uniform thickness to prevent an electrolyte within the pouch from leaking to the outside.

    Abstract: A plurality of shapes each having a fundamental construction of a flange are vacuum formed on a continuous sheet of thermoplastic resin. When blanking each of the formed shapes out of the resin sheet into an individual flange, a spool core is placed coaxially with the formed shape placed in the blanking position. The flange just blanked out of the resin sheet is moved in the blanking direction toward the spool core, to be fit on the spool core. The shapes are formed in a double line along the resin sheet, and thereafter, the resin sheet is slit along the longitudinal direction into two sheet branches each having the formed shapes arranged in a single line. The back side surfaces of the two sheet branches are opposed to each other, and the spool core is disposed between the sheet branches and oriented in a direction perpendicular to the back side surfaces of the sheet branches. The formed shapes are blanked out of the sheet branches in opposite directions toward opposite ends of the spool core.

The method utilizes a portable frame assembly having an open rack with yieldable holding clamps. The holding clamps are used to suspend a plastic-backed carpet blank in the rack. The frame assembly has a set of wheeled legs which allows it to be readily transported between work stations such as a heating zone and a molding zone. The yieldable holding clamps maintain the carpet under constant tension during the molding zone to result in a high quality molded carpet.

    Abstract: A sprue gated injected molding system having nozzles with a removable hollow gate insert received in a seat in the forward end of each nozzle to form the gate. Each gage insert has a forward portion with a tapered outer surface which abuts against a matching tapered surface of an opening through to mold to the cavity. The forward portion of the gate insert is resilient which ensures extremely good contact between them under bearing pressure due to thermal expansion of the nozzle. Thus optimum uniform heat transfer is provided between the gate insert and the cooled mold. The gate insert has a circumferential removal flange to facilitate it being pryed out of the seat if replacement is required. In an alternate embodiment an elongated torpedo is seated centrally in the melt bore of each nozzle. The torpedo has an outer retaining ring and a number of radially extending tapered fins which form melt flow channels between them.

    Abstract: Pyrohy makers usually comprise ordinary stamp out plastic molds or multiple molds, both of which often present difficulties in sealing the pyrohies and/or releasing same from the molds. Alternatively they include two or more moveable pieces which are expensive to produce and often difficult or awkward to operate. The present device is a circular cut out device with a depending outer rim which both cuts out and seals in one operation. It is designed to use on a sheet of dough upon which the filling is placed and the edge of the dough is then flipped over the filling whereupon part of the mold is engaged over the flipped portion to cut and seal the pyrohy in a substantially semi-circular configuration.

The cycle time of these processes is extremely long as a result of the thermal processes (heating, melting, injection moulding, cooling). It is possible to significantly reduce the same in that the tools for holding or producing the bristle carrier on the one hand and the clamping devices for the bristles on the other are moved on closed paths and the clamping devices at at least one common station are transferred to the path of the tools and at least during the thermal processes are jointly moved with the tools and are subsequently returned to their movement path.

    Abstract: A plastic injection mold apparatus which includes a multiple tip torpedo heater in the fluid plastic flow passageway. The torpedo heater includes a pair of substantially identical tip members and a mounting collar which together define an exposed outer cylindrical surface of substantially uniform diameter with a tip at each end thereof over which the fluid plastic material may be directed at an elevated temperature. The tip members each are formed with an internal bore for receiving a respective electrical heating element, the leads of which exit the heater through the central mounting collar. The torpedo heater is retained in mounted position by means of a removable bushing, which permits relatively easy removal and replacement of the heater. The mounting collar and bushing each are formed so that an insulating air space is defined about their outer peripheries for enhancing the energy efficient operation of the molding operation.
