Patent number: 6759003Abstract: Blow-molding molds 10 and 20 having parison shutters 31 and 32 for preventing an inflation of the parison 3 toward the outside of the molds 10 and 20 are used in a blow-molding method of the present invention. In other words, a closed space for preventing the parison 3 from inflating out of the molds 10 and 20 are formed by the parison shutters 31 and 32 and a predetermined air is secured in the parison 3 in a frame clamping step (B). In the subsequent mold clamping step (C), the pressure inside the parison 3 starts to be increased when the molds 10 and 20 press the parison 3, so that the parison 3 can be continuously in contact with the die design surface 11. Accordingly, since the parison 3 can be uniformly contracted by cooling, molding failure such as streaks and uneven pattern transfer can be avoided, thus obtaining a blow-molded product having good appearance.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 2001Date of Patent: July 6, 2004Assignees: Idemitsu Petrochemical Co., Ltd., Toyota Shatai Kabushiki KaisyaInventors: Tomoyuki Obara, Katsuhiko Tada, Sueki Sugawara, Shoichi Miura, Hirofumi Yamada, Shigekazu Kumazaki

Patent number: 5536343Abstract: In a method and apparatus for manufacturing a slide fastener chain having rows of coupling elements and members of a separable bottom end stop assembly, two positioning holes are formed at predetermined positions on reinforcing films attached to a pair of fastener tapes. The positioning holes are used to position the fastener tapes relative to a molding unit with respect to each individual slide fastener length. Thus, even when a positioning error is produced due to a change in tension on the fastener tapes being processed, such error is limited to a small extent which is created only in the individual slide fastener length. Thus, the coupling elements and the first pin member and the second pin member can be molded precisely.Type: GrantFiled: August 30, 1994Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Assignee: YKK CorporationInventor: Kazuki Kuse

Patent number: 5529482Abstract: The manufacture of slit-type zip fasteners is accelerated by synchronizing the movement of the slit former with the movement of the ejector. A portion of the slit former slides while ejecting the product or closing the mould in a guide which causes a movement of the slit forming portion of the slit former obliquely to the general ejection direction thus pulling the slit forming portion out of the heads of the zipper teeth. The zip fastener is made preferably in a mould wherein the slider that comprises inter alia the moulds for the zipper stops is disposed asymmetrically at one end of the mould. The hot runner of this mould is designed in such a manner that the material flow is first directed to the feed nozzle furthest away from the slider and then to the nozzle next to the slider which is working for the injection moulding of a zip fastener of any length.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1994Date of Patent: June 25, 1996Inventor: Friedrich Mayerhofer

Patent number: 4330244Abstract: An apparatus for forming coupling members of synthetic resin for application to a support tape in the production of a slide-fastener stringer comprises a forming wheel to which an endless band is fed to form mold cavities on the periphery of the wheel which are filled with synthetic resin. According to the invention, a further band is fed to overlie the first band and define undercut portions of the cavity to produce projections in the molded members which can engage when the latter are applied to a support tape. A continuous core can be fed to the drum periphery to be embedded in the coupling members as they are formed so that the row of coupling members is produced as a succession of teeth on this continuous element.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1980Date of Patent: May 18, 1982Assignee: Optilon W. Patent number: 4268474Abstract: A continuous flexible metal band surrounding a molding wheel and rotating therewith engages the wheel through an arc less than 180.degree., e.g. 110.degree., and is maintained with a substantial inward radius of curvature throughout its entire length. This permits the employment of bands with cavities therein and having thicknesses several times greater than 0.001 times the diameter of the molding wheel without fatigue and failure of the band.Type: GrantFiled: December 27, 1979Date of Patent: May 19, 1981Assignee: Textron, Inc.Inventor: George B. Patent number: 4257839Abstract: A method of welding a row of interconnected thermoplastic coupling elements for slide fasteners at opposed leg portions of each coupling element with the use of an ultrasonic horn. The method comprises: pressing the opposed leg portions of the coupling elements against the ultrasonic horn on its opposite sides during the coupling elements are being fed at constant speed; concurrently with this pressing step, fusing the opposed leg portions of the coupling elements at their confronting inner surfaces by ultrasonically vibrating the ultrasonic horn in a direction parallel to the confronting inner surfaces; and pressing the opposed leg portions of the coupling elements, after the latter is disengaged from the ultrasonic horn, against each other so as to be united at the confronting inner surfaces that have been fused. An apparatus for carrying the above method into practice efficiently and accurately is also disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1979Date of Patent: March 24, 1981Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo, K.K.Inventors: Hiroshi Yoshida, Shunji Akashi

Patent number: 4251912Abstract: A warp-knit elongate structure is provided which has a pair of spaced warp-knit elongate webs and a plurality of transverse thread portions spaced longitudinally of and interconnecting the warp-knit elongate webs. The shape of the warp-knit structure is corrected into a ladder-like structure and then is introduced into an elongate mold cavity, in which synthetic resin is molded around the portion of the warp-knit webs and the transverse thread portion which are disposed in the mold cavity. A molded product that constitutes a portion of a coupling element assembly is separated from the mold cavity, and is bent about its transverse central axis into the shape of a U. A guide drum is disposed adjacent to a molding wheel for guiding the warp-knit structure onto the molding wheel and for rectifying the shape of the warp-knit structure into a ladder-like structure.Type: GrantFiled: May 22, 1979Date of Patent: February 24, 1981Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K.K.Inventor: Hiroshi Yoshida

Patent number: 4235584Abstract: A heating cylinder with a chamber therein is mounted on a base and has a discharge nozzle with an orifice therein, a plunger being movable into the chamber toward the discharge nozzle. A mold holder is supported on the base and has a mold including first and second mold members which jointly provide a mold cavity therebetween. The mold holder is pivotable between a first position in which the mold is held in contact with the discharge nozzle with a sprue in one of the mold members being held in communication with the orifice and a second position in which the mold is located away from the discharge nozzle. There is a means on the base for locking the mold holder in the first position.Type: GrantFiled: March 26, 1979Date of Patent: November 25, 1980Assignee: Yoshida Kogyo K.K.Inventor: Akio Yunoki

Patent number: 4226577Abstract: Disclosed is an injection molding apparatus for the manufacture of continuous slide fastener chain. In the disclosed arrangement a small projection is formed on a portion of a runner molded together with a row of fastener elements at the time the elements are injection molded on a pair of stringer tapes, the small projection being detected as a portion of the as yet unfinished slide fastener chain when the stringer tapes are fed. Upon detection of the projection the introduction of the tapes into the molds is halted and the tapes, which have been intentionally fed to an excessive degree, are retracted by an amount equal to such excess. During the retraction the posterior end of the runner abuts a stopper provided on one of the pair of molds thereby to position the tapes for the next injection molding cycle.Type: GrantFiled: July 3, 1979Date of Patent: October 7, 1980Inventor: Mitsuo Sawada
