With Means To Evacuate Mold Or Provide Controlled Environment Patents (Class 425/546)
  • Patent number: 4245809
Abstract: A structural framing system and apparatus for use in the fabrication of a structural framework of selected geometric configuration of cast material, for example, concrete or plastic. The method and apparatus of the present invention includes a generally hollow hub form defined by a generally continuous shell of selected geometric form to provide a locus for radiating and outwardly extending frame member forms, which communicate with the hub form where a suitable hardenable material is provided to fill the hub form and the frame member forms to provide a self-supporting structural framework of interconnected hubs and frame members, the frame members extending divergently outwardly from the hub members. Structural reinforcements such as reinforcing steel can be attached within the hub to extend divergently outwardly through the frame form members.

  • Patent number: 4219317
Abstract: Production of hollow shaped bodies made of pourable and hardenable material, particularly polyurethane tires, in a mold cavity having a deformable membrane. The membrane is expanded to fill the mold cavity and expel air therein. Thereafter an amount of material required to produce the shaped body is introduced into the mold cavity and concomitantly the membrane is contracted to the form of the core. This minimizes air bubbles in the shaped body. A piston-cylinder unit movable with the inflow and outflow of liquid to the deformable membrane may be used to accurately control feed of polyurethane material to the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 4208368
Abstract: A method of molding articles of plastic having an expanded plastic cellular core using a closable and sealable mold having a sealed mold cavity and including at least one mold core extending into the cavity, comprises, directing the plastic melt material containing a foaming agent into the mold cavity under pressure so as to form a flow front of the melt which progresses through the cavity and which spreads out in all directions and flows around the mold core and tends to form a pocket of gas in the vicinity of the mold core, and venting the cavity adjacent the core so as to remove gas from any gas pocket which may be formed in the vicinity of the core. The apparatus for carrying out the invention includes a vent line which extends from the cavity in the vicinity of the mold core out of the cavity and which has a control valve for opening the vent line to vent any gas which forms in the cavity and which might tend to form a pocket after the buildup of a pressure in the mold cavity.

  • Patent number: 4172872
Abstract: A method of molding large-sized plastics is disclosed, in which is used an apparatus comprising an extruding means and a die clamping device composed of a stationary die plate and a movable die plate, both being able to be connected to each other in order to clamp the die or separated to open the die with tie bars on the movable die plate inserted into or drawn out of the stationary die plate, and a die of thin plate make attached to the die clamping device and comprising a cavity and a core, each being partitioned into a plurality of small sections in order to control the temperature of each section separately. Thus, a molten material is extruded into the die after it is heated partially at different temperatures required, and, after it is cooled down partially at different rate required, the solidified article is taken out of the die, so that a large-sized article of good quality is obtained with low molding costs. The die is less expensive and easy to handle, and the replacement of it is also very easy.

  • Patent number: 4160632
Abstract: A system for disposing of fly ash where the dry fly ash is transported by pneumatic hose to a portable container which is utilized in the manner of a mold. The container is of a general truncated pyramidal shape, closed at the top end and open at the bottom. The fly ash is blown into the container and simultaneously wetted by sprayed liquid within the container. The air which is used for transporting the fly ash is removed from the container by a filtering system and the fly ash is allowed to harden into cement-like ingots or cakes for further handling thereof.

  • Patent number: 4153231
Abstract: Mould assembly for foam moulding of plastic materials, which comprises stationary and movable dies and an auxiliary die plate device between the stationary and movable dies. A gas passage is formed for introducing pressurized inert gas into the mould cavity. The auxiliary die device comprises separated inner and outer auxiliary dies both being spring biased toward the stationary die. O-ring seals are disposed between the opposite surfaces of the outer auxiliary die and the stationary and movable dies.

  • Patent number: 4146081
Abstract: The present method and apparatus for die casting of metals such as aluminum, is especially suitable for casting under vacuum. The casting is performed under such operating conditions that a contact between the molten metal being cast and the free atmosphere is avoided all the way from the melt to the casting proper. For this purpose, the present casting apparatus includes a closeable and evacuable transport container connected to the casting apparatus proper by a coupling which is also evacuable. The transport container is placed on a filling chamber and the evacuating apparatus is arranged to simultaneously evacuate the filling chamber, the transport container and the coupling between the transport container and the filling chamber proper. The evacuation takes place in a direction opposite to the flow direction of the metal being cast. If desired, further evacuating means may be provided for evacuation of the filling chamber and the die in the direction of the metal flow.

  • Patent number: 4059376
Abstract: Hydraulic cement or the like is poured into a closed mould under a reduced pressure condition to a level slightly higher than a predetermined level. Coarse aggregate and steel rods are prepacked in the mould. After pouring, the pressure in the mould is increased to atmospheric pressure or a higher pressure to force the hydraulic cement above the predetermined level back into the space below the level thus compacting the poured in hydraulic cement. A cushion device is provided for the pouring device. An overflow tank is connected to the mould to observe the level of the poured cement. The pressure in the overflow tank is also decreased during pouring and increased after pouring.
