Publication number: 20150048050Abstract: An inkjet-based process for programmable deposition of thin films of a user-defined profile. Drops of a pre-cursor liquid organic material are dispensed at various locations on a substrate by a multi-jet. A superstrate that has been bowed due to a backside pressure is brought down such that a first contact of the drops is made by a front side of the superstrate thereby initiating a liquid front that spreads outward merging with the drops to form a contiguous film captured between the substrate and the superstrate. A non-equilibrium transient state of the superstrate, the contiguous film and the substrate then occurs after a duration of time. The contiguous film is then cured to crosslink it into a polymer. The superstrate is then separated from the polymer thereby leaving a polymer film on the substrate. In such a manner, non-uniform films can be formed without significant material wastage in an inexpensive manner.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 18, 2014Publication date: February 19, 2015Inventors: Sidlgata V. Patent number: 8795805Abstract: An optical disc recording medium includes a disc substrate, at least one recording layer which is disposed on one surface side of the disc substrate, a cover layer which is disposed on a laser incident surface side of the recording layer and which is composed of a light-transmissive resin layer, and a hard coat layer which is disposed for surface protection on a laser incident surface side of the cover layer and which is composed of a light-transmissive resin layer. The cover layer is formed such that its thickness decreases from the central portion to the peripheral portion of the disc, the hard coat layer is formed such that its thickness increases from the central portion to the peripheral portion, and the total thickness of the cover layer and the hard coat layer is substantially uniform from the central portion to the peripheral portion.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 2009Date of Patent: August 5, 2014Assignee: Sony CorporationInventors: Toshio Ohoshi, Reynard Tanuprayogi, Jun Nakano

Patent number: 8784938Abstract: A functional-film fabricating method includes applying a coating by ejecting droplets of functional liquid from plural nozzles to ejection areas for forming a functional film which are surrounded by bounded areas having a liquid repellent property, during a single scanning. In applying the coating, when there is a non-ejectable nozzle out of plural nozzles to be used for applying a coating to a single ejection area, the amount of droplets of the functional liquid ejected from another ejectable nozzle to be used for applying a coating to this ejection area is larger than that of cases where there is no non-ejectable nozzle.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 2010Date of Patent: July 22, 2014Assignee: Panasonic CorporationInventors: Naoki Suzuki, Takao Nagumo, Hidehiro Yoshida, Hiroshi Hayata, Masahiro Muro

Publication number: 20140178586Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method for forming golf balls, wherein an extruder forms a continuous tubing of cover material and a continuous stream of golf ball cores are fed into the tubing and translated to an encasement station wherein the tubing/cover material is wrapped around each core and the encased core sealed off by a twisting or crimping procedure. The resulting product is placed into a compression mold and a two piece golf ball can be created without the need for the costly process of injection molding.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2012Publication date: June 26, 2014Applicant: ACUSHNET COMPANYInventor: Richard Strozyk
