  • Patent number: 10115636
Abstract: A workpiece has a plurality of low-dielectric-constant insulation films and a metallic pattern stacked on a surface of a semiconductor substrate. Devices are formed in a plurality of regions partitioned by streets formed in a grid pattern. Surfaces of the devices formed on the workpiece are covered with a surface protective member, leaving the streets exposed. A dispersion of abrasive grains in an etching liquid capable of dissolving the metallic pattern is blasted against the workpiece together with compressed gas so as to remove the low-dielectric-constant insulation films and the metallic pattern on the streets, thereby exposing the semiconductor substrate. The workpiece is divided with the semiconductor substrate exposed by the wet blasting step subjected to dry etching so as to divide the workpiece along the streets.

  • Patent number: 8084094
Abstract: A coating process for an article having a substrate formed of a metal alloy that is prone to the formation of a secondary reaction zone (SRZ). The coating process forms a coating system that includes an aluminum-containing overlay coating and a stabilizing layer between the overlay coating and the substrate. The overlay coating contains aluminum in an amount greater by atomic percent than the metal alloy of the substrate, such that there is a tendency for aluminum to diffuse from the overlay coating into the substrate. The stabilizing layer is predominantly or entirely formed of at least one platinum group metal (PGM), namely, platinum, rhodium, iridium, and/or palladium. The stabilizing layer is sufficient to inhibit diffusion of aluminum from the overlay coating into the substrate so that the substrate remains essentially free of an SRZ that would be deleterious to the mechanical properties of the alloy.

Abstract: A method for arranging nanotube elements within nanotube fabric layers and films is disclosed. A directional force is applied over a nanotube fabric layer to render the fabric layer into an ordered network of nanotube elements. That is, a network of nanotube elements drawn together along their sidewalls and substantially oriented in a uniform direction. In some embodiments this directional force is applied by rolling a cylindrical element over the fabric layer. In other embodiments this directional force is applied by passing a rubbing material over the surface of a nanotube fabric layer. In other embodiments this directional force is applied by running a polishing material over the nanotube fabric layer for a predetermined time. Exemplary rolling, rubbing, and polishing apparatuses are also disclosed.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method for conducting film coating on the surface of spinning circular workpiece under action of gas pressure, and nozzle utilized in the same. Circular workpiece to be coated is held on a rotating mechanism, and a feedstock loading machine having a nozzle, which is capable of guiding redundant feedstock and overflowing in a specific direction, is set to have a 100 ?m gap with the circular workpiece. When the rotating mechanism is rotated, the polymer solution is precoated on the surface of the circular workpiece, and when gas valve is opened, the polymer solution is squeezed to a predetermined thickness by an annular high pressure gas-stream formed on the periphery of a cylinder, produced from the high pressure gas released.

  • Patent number: 7998601
Abstract: A method produces thermal barrier coatings that adhere to components even at high temperatures and temperatures that change frequently. A gas-tight glass-metal composite coating is applied to the component and annealed. The corroded part of the gas-tight coating is then removed, and a second, porous coating is applied. The second coating can comprise a ceramic, in particular yttrium-stabilized zirconium oxide. A thermal barrier coating is provided that is a composite made of a gas-tight glass-metal composite coating and another porous coating disposed thereover. Because the boundary volume of the composite coating is partly crystallized to the other coating, superior adhesion within the composite is achieved. Thus, it is in particular possible to produce a composite made of silicate glass-metal composite coatings and yttrium-stabilized zirconium oxide that are temperature-stable for extended periods of time.
