Abstract: A novel Aromatic Thermosetting Copolyester (ATSP) can be processed into highly effective wear resistant coatings by blending with polytetrafluorethylene (PTFE) and other additives. Surface treatments/coatings are key to improving wear performance and durability in a wide array of applications. The problems associated with use of liquid lubricants, hard/soft coatings are well known but only modest progress has been achieved due to lack of research on new material systems. These coatings were fabricated and tested as highly effective wear resistant coatings by blending ATSP with PTFE and other tribologically beneficial additives. The main advantages of these polymeric-based coatings are their relatively low cost and simple substrate surface conditioning (i.e., no need for expensive surface preparation before coating).

The water-dispersible acrylic polymer is present in an amount of at least 55 weight % and at a dry ratio to the water-dispersible polyester of at least 1:1. The thermal image receiver element can be used to prepare thermal dye images after thermal transfer from a thermal donor element.
Abstract: An aqueous binder for an inorganic fiber heat-insulating sound-absorbing member is cured by heating at low temperatures and is capable of providing a strong binder cured product. The inorganic fiber heat-insulating sound-absorbing member is produced by applying an aqueous binder to inorganic fibers and heating the resulting inorganic fibers at 180-220° C. The aqueous binder contains 5.5-10 parts by mass of an ammonium salt of an inorganic acid per 100 parts by mass of the total of an acrylic resin that has an acid value of 350-850 mgKOH/g and a crosslinking agent that contains at least one alkanol amine. The ratio of the total mole number of hydroxy groups, amino groups and imino groups in the crosslinking agent relative to the mole number of carboxyl groups in the acrylic resin is 0.8-1.5. The pH of the aqueous binder is adjusted to 5.0-8.0 by a basic compound.
Abstract: Disclosed are formaldehyde-free, thermally-curable, alkaline, aqueous binder compositions. The disclosed binder compositions may be cured to substantially water-insoluble thermoset polyester resins, including formaldehyde-free, substantially water-insoluble thermoset polyester resins. Uses of the disclosed binder compositions as binders for non-woven fibers and fiber materials are also disclosed.
