Abstract: Heater assemblies and other electrical components are provided having protective coatings that allow for use in high temperature and highly corrosive environments. Methods for applying protective coatings are also provided. In one embodiment, a component is provided and includes a protective coating that encapsulates at least a portion thereof. Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyalkylene carbonate-based resin film and a manufacturing method thereof. The polyalkylene carbonate-based resin film according to the present invention has biodegradability and complete combustion decomposability to show environment-friendly feature and rubber-like properties. Therefore, the resin film can be applied to various resin molded products requiring elasticity, and in particular, preferably applied to resin molded products such as disposable groves, disposable containers, and disposable rubber molded products.

Abstract: Polyhexahydrotriazine (PHT) film layers are formed by a process comprising heating a first mixture comprising i) a solvent, ii) paraformaldehyde, and iii) a diamine monomer comprising two primary aromatic amine groups at a temperature of about 20° C. to less than 150° C. This heating step forms a stable polyhemiaminal (PHA) in solution, which can be cast on a surface of a substrate, thereby forming an initial film layer comprising the PHA. The initial film layer is heated at a temperature of 180° C. to about 280° C., thereby converting the PHA film layer to a PHT film layer. Young's moduli of about 8 GPA to about 14 GPA have been observed for the PHT film layers.

Abstract: A method of forming a lubricating film on a surface, comprising applying to a surface a multiphasic composition comprising at least one (per)fluoropolyether (PFPE) lubricant, water and from 0.1 to 3% by weight of water of at least one thickening agent, said multiphasic composition having a viscosity, when measured at 21° C. at a shear rate of 1 sec?1 of at least 10 Pa×sec so as to form a layer, and drying said layer to form a lubricating film. The Applicant has found that by the use of the multiphasic composition as above detailed it is advantageously possible to convey to surface to be lubricated the PFPE lubricant by using application techniques (doctor blade, metering rod, . . . ) as those suitable for solid-like greases, while the actual conveyed lubricant behaves in lubrication as an oil, avoiding the use of fluorinated solvents.

Abstract: Organic polymer particles are provided in a cement composition that is used to apply a skin to a ceramic honeycomb, or to bond the ceramic honeycomb to another honeycomb or another material. The presence of the organic polymer particles reduces the penetration of the cement composition through porous walls of the honeycomb. In this way, less blocking of the honeycomb cells is seen, and the reduction in thermal shock performance that is often seen when cement compositions are applied to ceramic honeycombs is reduced.

Abstract: A method for forming a dispersion includes mixing graphene particles, a fluorosilane coupling agent and a first solvent to produce a first dispersion wherein the graphene particles are from about 0.1 to about 0.8 weight percent of the first dispersion. The method includes concentrating the first dispersion by removing the first solvent to produce a second dispersion wherein the graphene particles are from about 2.0 to about 10.0 weight percent of the concentrated dispersion. The concentrated dispersion is mixed with a fluoropolymer dispersion including a second solvent, a surfactant, and fluoropolymer particles wherein the fluoropolymer dispersion has a solids content of about 30 weight percent to about 50 weight percent to form a second dispersion. A polymer binder in a third solvent is mixed with the second dispersion to form the coating dispersion.

Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to a dispersion of nanoparticles in a liquid medium. The liquid medium is suitably water-based and further includes an ionic liquid-based stabilizer in the liquid medium to stabilize the dispersion of nanoparticles therein. The stabilizer can be polymeric or monomeric and generally includes a moiety with at least one quaternary ammonium cation from a corresponding ionic liquid. The dispersion suitably can be formed by shearing or otherwise mixing a mixture/combination of its components. The dispersions can be used to form nanoparticle composite films upon drying or otherwise removing the liquid medium carrier, with the stabilizer providing a nanoparticle binder in the composite film. The films can be formed on essentially any desired substrate and can impart improved electrical conductivity and/or thermal conductivity properties to the substrate.
Abstract: The present invention concerns a method for preparing polyanilines by oxidative polymerization of aniline in an aqueous acid medium, comprising at least one synthesis step carried out in the presence of a) a monomer with formula (An) RmRo—C6H3—NHR? in which Ro, Rm and R? independently of each other, represent H or a linear or branched alkyl, alkoxy, alkylcarboxy or alkylsulfonic group, containing 1 to 6 carbon atoms, b) an acid, c) an oxidizing agent and d) a salt, characterized in that the acid is formic acid. Abstract: Provided herein is a reflective optical construction containing a fluoropolymer barrier layer, wherein the fluoropolymer is selected from the group consisting of homopolymers and copolymers of at least one tetrafluoropropene or pentafluoropropene, preferably 2,3,3,3-tetrafluoropropene. Also disclosed is a method of forming a reflective optical construction including (a) applying a barrier layer comprising one or more fluoropolymers selected from the group consisting of homopolymers and copolymers of at least one tetrafluoropropene or pentafluoropropene, and (b) curing.

Abstract: Sulfur-containing polyurea compositions comprising a polyisocyanate and a polyamine are disclosed. The polyisocyanate comprises the reaction product of reactants comprising a diisocyanate having isocyanate groups with different reactivities toward thiol groups, and a thiol-terminated sulfur-containing polymer such as a thiol-terminated polythioether polymer and/or a thiol-terminated polyformal polymer. The polyamine can be an aromatic polyamine and/or an aromatic amine-terminated polythioether adduct. The sulfur-containing polyurea compositions are useful as aerospace sealants.

Abstract: A solvent borne brushable coating composition having improved sag resistance and process for using the same are provided. The composition includes a crosslinkable component having one or more polymers having two or more crosslinkable groups a crosslinking component comprising one or more crosslinking agents having crosslinking groups; and a sag control agent of polyurea in drying oil. When a layer a pot mix resulting from mixing of the crosslinkable and crosslinking components is brush applied over a substrate, it has high sag resistance, low brush drag while providing desired coating properties, such as high gloss and rapid cure even under ambient conditions. The solvent borne brushable coating compositions is well suited for use in automotive refinish applications as well as direct-to-metal industrial applications, such as construction and transportation equipment.
