  • Patent number: 7935388
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a quantum-dot element utilizes a reaction chamber for evaporating or sputtering at least one electrode layer or at least one buffer layer on a substrate. A substrate-supporting base is located inside the reaction chamber for fixing the substrate. An atomizer has a gas inlet and a sample inlet. More specifically, the gas inlet and the sample inlet feed the atomizer respectively with a gas and a precursor solution having a plurality of functionalized quantum dots, and thereby form a quantum-dot layer on the substrate. The method for manufacturing a quantum-dot element forms a quantum dot layer with uniformly distributed quantum dots and integrates the processes for forming the quantum-dot layer, the buffer layer, and the electrode layer together in the same chamber.

  • Patent number: 7867571
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to produce a textile surface (1), one side of which exhibits hydrophilic properties and the other side hydrophobic properties, whose overall cross-section is hydrophilic. To achieve this, a paste (11) consisting of a viscous emulsion or dispersion of paraffin, polysiloxane and/or fluorine compounds is applied to one side. The layer that has been formed by the first paste (11) is then stabilized by means of a drying process (4) and a second paste (12), consisting of a hydrophilic polymer is subsequently applied to the other side of the textile surface (1), said paste being stabilized by an additional drying process (5). Said steps provide a textile surface (1), which can be produced simply and cost-effectively, is extremely comfortable to wear and which ensures that moisture is immediately absorbed on the hydrophilic side, dispersed over a large area and rapidly removed, whereas the hydrophobic side of said textile surface (1) repels water.

Abstract: A method for forming functional ceramic films on ceramic materials, to enhance mechanical properties, chemical stability, and/or biological properties of the materials. The functional ceramic film comprises at least about 10 weight percent pure zirconia, with phase transformation at tetragonal/cubic phases at high temperature to monoclinic phase at room temperature, leading to volume expansion and compressive stress. The compressive stress enhances mechanical strength, wear resistance, hardness and other properties, and also tends to eliminate cracks and flaws in the ceramic material. The functional film may also include bioactive materials, and may include a structure for eluting drugs so as to serve as a drug delivery vehicle. The functional ceramic films may be centered on the base ceramic, or the materials may be co-centered. Devices having the ceramic materials with functional films may be used, for various medical or dental purposes.

  • Patent number: 7862850
Abstract: A panel (9) is conveyed by using a conveyer (3), and the coating surface of the panel (9) is divided into two coating areas (CAa, CAb). Further, the coating areas (CAa, CAb) are coated by reciprocating sprayer units (6, 7) parallel to a conveying direction. At this time, at a boundary between the coating areas (CAa, CAb), the positions of turning paths (Ta0, Tb0) of the reciprocation of a coating machine are shifted sequentially from the front side to the rear side in the conveying direction, so that coating trajectories (Ta, Tb) like a series of steps are formed. Thus, at the boundary between the coating areas (CAa, CAb), the turning paths (Ta0, Tb0) can be spread and located, and the occurrence of color shading can be prevented.

In one aspect, the apparatus uses a liquid crystal dispensing unit to dispense liquid crystal. The liquid crystal dispensing unit includes a nozzle having a discharging hole through which the liquid crystal is dropped onto the substrate, a needle moveable between a down position in which the needle blocks the discharging hole and an up position in which the needle is separated from the discharging hole, a spring member to bias the needle toward the down position, and a solenoid coil to provide a magnetic force to move the needle to the up position. The dropping amount liquid crystal dispensing unit may be electrically controlled by controlling the solenoid coil or by controlling a gas pressure used to drive the liquid crystal through the discharging hole.
