A pane module thus produced can subsequently be conventionally fitted to the coachwork on the assembly line using fitting strings without any further auxiliaries and working process. Owing to the material used for the flexible structural component and or sealing strip, the sealing quality corresponds to that of direct glazing. If the residual heat from the manufacture of the pane is used as the activation heat for the sealing strip, considerable economies are achieved in the manufacturing process for the pane module.

    Abstract: A sealing arrangement for attachment to the window frame running around a window opening on a vehicle door comprises a sealing strip made of extruded plastics or rubber material and incorporating metal reinforcemet. The strip fits over a flange forming part of the window frame. The strip has a locking protrusion made of flexible material having a shoulder adjacent a hollow interior chamber. The latter enables the shoulder to flex and pivot and to pass over a re-entrant rigid lip at the mouth of a rigid channel in the frame and to lock behind this lip. The strip can thus be fitted and removed without the use of a tool. The strip also defines a channel for receiving the window glass.

The weather strip has a breakout section in which the core is broken apart at plurality of positions so that the breakout section is stretchable and contractible. A core breaking machine comprises: shafts arranged in a row and supported for turning; bending members on which the breakout section of the welt part of the weather strip is put on, fixedly joined to the upper ends of the shafts, respectively; gears fixedly mounted on the lower ends of the shafts, respectively, so that the adjacent gears are engaged; and a driving mechanism for driving the gears for turning alternately in opposite directions to turn the bending members alternately in opposite directions through a predetermined angle, respectively.

A cloth or textile covering extends over the outside surface of the cosmetic lip, around its distal edge and over the whole of the concave surface of the lip to terminate at a point on the outside side wall of the gripping portion.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a windshield frame utilizing composite technology. More particularly, the windshield frame preferably comprises a fiber reinforced plastic molded upper frame section bonded with a structural grade adhesive to a fiber reinforced plastic molded lower frame section. According to the invention, steel reinforcements and tapping plates are bonded on or molded into the frame sections to stabilize the structure and provide hardware attachment points. Continuous carbon fibers may also be molded in the frame sections in critical high stress areas. The strength of the bonding between the frame sections is enhanced by a tongue and groove geometry along the interface. In addition, dowel pins and bushings are used to mechanically tie the frame sections together near body side attachment points.

A bottom member extends in a bottom plane, and has at least three side members extending in respective planes. Junction portions join the bottom member and the side members. Ribs are intermittently molded as one piece to bottom member and to side member and extend from the bottom plane from the bottom member through the junction portion to the side plane of the side member. An opening portion helps to prevent angular deformation of the resin body between the bottom member and the side member from a desired angle between the bottom plane and the side plane when the one-piece body is molded by minimizing differences in the cooling rate at different parts adjacent to the junction portion in the one-piece body. The opening portion is located between the ribs at least adjacent to and along the junction portion. The opening portion has a length along the junction portion that is at least five/ten the length of the junction portion.

The molding is mounted to a structural support such as a pinch weld or panel with openings of struck-out portions by inserting a portion of the structural support into the channel and seating a lower edge of a return flange of the pinch weld or an edge of the opening or struck-out portion against one of the serrations on the lip of the clip. The resiliency of the trim molding and the shank helps retain the molding to the structural support and accommodates pinch welds of different sizes.
